Great thing…. but solved in October subscription L. Connected 2 days ago (took a while) but didn’t get the Box 5? with the 3 box the w-lan is not exactly extremely fast, problem: where the PC is located there is no connection for fibre optics or even a telephone connection…. and 149.– Fr is ok, but if you’ve been waiting so long an info that you have to buy the box separately would have been helpful…. since I’ve only had fibre optics for 2 days anyway

So with the WLAN from the IB3 or IB5, there shouldn’t be any major differences under normal circumstances.

How did you recognise that there is a problem with the WLAN, it is important whether the IB3 or IB5 if there are more than two lightweight walls or more than one deck in between, there will always be a problem with the 5GHz WLAN and the 2.4GHz is better.

internet box is good. WLAN is not good. doesn’t work within 5meters from the box. needs extender

So at only 5m you definitely don’t need a repeater.

What kind of WLAN receiver (device type) is this?

The WLAN of the IB3 and IB5pro is relatively identical, except that Wifi7 is available (only useful for end devices that also support Wifi7) and that the 6 GHz band is also used. The transmission power is regulated by law and, if you have not reduced the power in the WEB GUI, is at maximum.

I bet that the “WLAN” problems are actually completely different problems. But you would have to know what the problem is. WLAN is not good, doesn’t really help.

If it’s a concrete wall, the WLAN signal may already be attenuated.

I myself have a WLAN-Box 3 in the basement through a reinforced concrete ceiling to the IB3 680/150Mbit/s (max. value of my external Internet connection), distance 2m.

Yes, it’s partly the wall. My mainboard has wifi7. My neighbour has the same problem, but with his new ib5 the speed is a good 30% faster…

      Ok that’s a good point.

You’ll have to decide for yourself whether the difference is worth buying the IB5 PRo.

In any case, when I look at my speed through a reinforced concrete ceiling with 640/150 Mbit/s and compare it with your speed, the gap is already very large and the question arises as to whether it wouldn’t be better to set up a WLAN box as an access point in the other room and connect it to the Internet box via a LAN cable to get the full speed.

I have entered the Netgear Roter in the IB3 as an exposed host so that all ports are forwarded. I am more flexible and have the option of setting filters and time restrictions better for the KIDS. The TV box is connected directly to the IB3 and is routed via a separate VLAN via the switch. This way I can also have a different IP addressing IB3 192.168.0.0 and Netgear router 192.168.1.0

In any case, my current configuration would not be possible with either the IB3 or the IB5 Pro alone

If you want to use special router functions that cannot be realised on a Swisscom Internet box, there is nothing to stop you from cascading an additional purely internal network with your own broadband router behind it.
As a result, your own network will be mostly provider-neutral, because your own router doesn’t care what kind of “provider device” with whatever technology it uses to access the Internet.

Hi Werner, it’s exactly as you say, this configuration helped me a lot when I switched from UPC back to Swisscom, as I didn’t have to make any changes to my LAN including the WLAN and could simply integrate the Swisscom router instead of the UPC modem. The only thing I then did was to connect the TV box directly to the IB3 via its own VLAN, thus preventing this data traffic from also running via my own router.

Basically really great news. Been waiting a long time for this box. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the ports. If it says Pro on it, it should also be Pro. Yes, Wifi 7 is great, and a 10 Gbit is also enough. But to still come up with 1 Gbit connections in 2025 is really incomprehensible. For all those people with larger flats or houses who operate more than 1 Wifi Box, 4 2.5Gbit connections for several Wifi Boxes (possibly Wifi Box 4 with Wifi 7) would have been perfect.

It’s a pity this wasn’t integrated, especially in the Pro version. Wasn’t there actually a “normal” and a “pro” version planned?
