Explained the other way round:

P2P and P2MP are physical construction methods of the fibres between the central office and the end customer connection.
With P2P, there is at least one private continuous fibre per individual customer between the customer and the central office, whereas with P2MP customers have to share fibres on the way to the central office.

XGS-PON and AON (called BX at Swisscom) are pure transmission protocols, i.e. they determine the exact structure of the signal that is transmitted via the fibre, depending on the physical design:

  • with P2P construction, the provider can use either XGS-PON or direct AON at the centre
  • In the case of P2MP construction (now prohibited by antitrust law), only XGS-PON would have been technically possible, as with a shared medium with shared fibre on the “last mile”, all customers could only be served with a uniform standardised signal.

Werner Then the splitter would have to be removed wherever the conversion is carried out so that my fibre goes directly into the central unit. Conversely, this means that if I can still find the ALL-BM410 somewhere, it will continue to work regardless of the conversion. As long as I stay with Swisscom after the upgrade, I could switch to fibre7, for example, and would then be connected P2P.

I am now also in possession of a GBIC - I bought the “Allnet ALL-BM410” this week and come from the Zyxel PM7300 bridge mode. As @bosi wrote - unplug the glass from the Zyxel - plug it into the ALL-BM410 - and wait.

What are your experiences with the temperature of the “ALL-BM410”?

The GBIC already gets very warm/hot for me:

I have exactly the same problem. Everything is set up and connected, and I’ve been assigned an IP address in the 100.x.x.x range.

The problem is that I just can’t get a connection to https://swisscom.ch/start - nothing happens.

What could be the reason for this, and does anyone here have any ideas on how I can solve the problem?

Do I need to clone the MAC address of my Internetbox 4 to get through?

        I’m on a 10 Gbit/s line, if that’s relevant.

I ordered one from him last Friday, transferred the money and received it in the post today.

          Absolutely no problems at all.

Spoke to Mr Hofer on the phone, explained what I needed and he gave me very good and knowledgeable advice.

          Very serious!

Tajdk I would do the following:

          1. reset existing internet
          2. connect the fibre optic cable to the Swisscom InternetBox
          3. get internet via InterneBox and check that it works correctly (check via MySwisscom portal) - Home => Internet => Your router Internet-Box 5 or so - there should be no errors. This error must not occur
*Your router cannot be reached Settings are only partially possible. Switch your router off, wait 30 seconds, switch your router back on and try again.
          4. check IP and test InternetSpeed (directly via LAN cable InternetBox <> Device)
          5. if this has worked, connect fibre optics to UDM The configuration in the WAN is already documented here x-times
          6. wait in the Unifiy UI until a 100 IP is received
          7. then navigate to Open https://swisscom.ch/registration or www.swisscom.ch/start via the device connected to UDM
          8. click through the process - when the Internet has changed to the new Mac address, wait (10 to 15 minutes)
          9. then a correct IP will come up

This process can be repeated several times - the XPON decryption can be activated back & forth (IB5 <> UDM)…

          hope I could help you.

          Greetings, buck*

buck The problem was apparently due to the DNS setting.

As soon as I specified the Swisscom DNS server, I was able to continue and now everything works perfectly.
