@Frommuyie27

thank you for the detailed report 😀

it will surely be useful to users who want to perform this installation

In other words, contractual speeds seem extremely difficult to achieve

contracted speeds correspond to the theoretical maximum (e.g. up to X Mbits/s or Y Gbits/s)

it must be taken into account that part of the traffic is reserved for technical data or systems

“On apprend parfois plus d'une dĂ©faite que d'une victoire” — JosĂ© RaĂșl Capablanca

I quickly read the documents you gave me as a reference.

I am honorably disappointed, with commercial advertising, with people who complain about performance with booster signal intensities at 3, with advice suggesting that the bandwidth of the 5G booster comes in addition to the bandwidth of the cable, complete heresy. Well, anything, but I would read in detail about the times I find the needle hidden in the haystack, or find the trick that will increase my bandwidth!

The only point that matters is your internet subscription, in other words, if you have an Internet M therefore 300Mbit/s in download you may think that the 5G booster will give you 450Mbit/s or 600Mbit/s it will not be not the case. It is always your Internet subscription which will limit your maximum bandwidth in this example.

I think I answered you a little quickly and I must clarify in relation to your remark:

"the contracted speeds correspond to the theoretical maximum (e.g. up to X Mbits/s or Y Gbits/s)

it must be taken into account that part of the traffic is reserved for technical or system data"

  • When we talk about bandwidth or Mbits/s it is the entirety of the bits which pass through the Wifi and not as you imply the significant bits, consequently the technical data, as you call them, are included in measuring WiFi traffic
  • Measurement software such as those cited does not analyze the content, it simply counts the number of bits passing each second, it does not benefit from the intelligence which would allow them to dissociate useful information from technical information. They only see binary values 0 or 1

Consequently the 60% measured must be able to be further improved to move towards 100% probably without ever getting there!

A+

@Donato, I received an email from Swisscom telling me that my InOne subscription had been adapted. Normally if you go to your “my Swisscom” you should see your Booster if it is activated

@Donato 1- I open the my Swisscom app 2- product 3- internet M 4- speed. And there at the very top of the page there is my Booster with the indications connection to the router ok, connection to the mobile network ok

Hello

Although the booster is recognized by the internet box and the latter indicates speeds around 200 Mbit/s via the Nokia application, there is no difference in speed whether the booster is connected or not. My original speed and 95 out of 35 with “S” subscription The Hotline tell me that the speed is normal with this subscription which I very much doubt. Normally I should have 100 in UPLOAD right?

Hello

I received my booster problem no difference, either it’s a problem with the internet box or the booster itself

Although the booster is recognized by the internet box and the latter indicates speeds around 200 Mbit/s via the Nokia application, there is no difference in speed whether the booster is connected or not.

My original speed and 95 out of 35 with the Hotline’s “S” subscription tell me that the speed is normal with this subscription, which I very much doubt.

So your Internet S has the following speeds: 100Mbit/s for download and 32Mbit/s for upload.

So far so good, but you have to understand that it is your abonnement Swisscom that is authentic!

Consequently you will not be able to exceed 100Mbit/s in download and 32 in upload and according to what you say it is 95 out of 35!

So, your margin of progress in relation to your subscription, and as long as we reach 100% of your contractual speeds, is 5Mbit/s for download and 0 for upload

To conclude, the only option you have is to upgrade to the next subscription = Internet M

Sorry

    Thanks for the feedback

In fact this is not quite what Swisscom indicated for my “S” subscription 100 in Download and 100 in Upload, at my home I have 100 in reception and 32 in transmission according to the wire in Swisscom copper at my home. The Hotline told me with the purchase of the booster I will increase my transmission speed depending on the quality of reception of the 5G signal like the copper wires and limited to around 30

As I indicated in my post I have no difference in speed with the booster connected or this one disconnected. I have the impression that either the booster or the internet box is a problem because I I have the internet booster link in red as shown in my screenshots.Screenshot 2021-11-25 at 13.28.59.png

I understood correctly, but I didn’t know that Swisscom has an Internet S subscription for 100 100?

The network diagram appeals to me; the red dot is on the connection between the booster and the Internet Box or Wlan 2.

So for your 5 G booster, stupid question, have you connected the Rj45 of the booster’s power supply to an Rj45 of your Internet Box?

Because it is obvious that without a functional connection with your booster you will never be able to have an improvement in performance tests.

I forgot a part in the diagram of your network you have the red box click on it you should have a description and you will be able to see the connected 4G and 5G networks with the signal strength.

In my tests, at one point I had a signal of 2 in 5G and 4 in 4G, resulting in a red symbol. You have to improve the position of the booster to increase the 5G signal, unless you’re mistaken at 3 it turns green and if you get to 5 it’s the Jackpot.

All you have to do is do a 24-hour test and see what the reports give.

      Hello

      Thanks for the feedback.

The booster and connecting to the WLan Box 2 the only choice opposite the living room with the router because at the place where the Wlan 2 is located, the 5G antenna visible and 500 m as the crow flies. I am currently testing the booster in the living room directly connected to the internet box and the connection this time and with 2 black circles but the booster reception is mediocre.

Ps the light is always green whether in the living room without visibility on a 5G antenna or opposite the accommodation. In addition, one of the measurements (last capture) displayed funny numbers!

        Good evening,

I also purchased the 5g booster because it was offered to me in my customer area. During installation, the Nokia app shows me 5G reception and the light is green. However, when I go to consult the booster’s web interface, I see that 5g is not connected but only 4g. There is therefore no improvement in speed. According to the confederation website, there are two antennas near my address, less than 200m.

Why does the Nokia app give 5G connection stats but nothing on the booster interface?

        Hello

It also did the same thing to me, just do a reboot or factory reset either from the booster web page or from the Nokia application.

Another thing it seems to me is that the device is poorly positioned in relation to the reception level at home which is currently weak 3 out of 5 so you can choose another location with the help of the Nokia application.

        @Doremi

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, I did a Factory Reset from the web interface, same thing, same problem, the booster does not connect to the 5G network

I tested several locations using the Nokia app, and each time the app shows 5G availability, but when I go to the web interface, no 5G, only 4G.

But actually, the 4G reception is not good

Thanks for the links! I went to take a look and some users are reporting the same problem. If I understand correctly, for some, the problem resolved itself “by itself” given a little time.

I still called 1st level support, who told me after a few minutes of “tests” on the Swisscom infrastructure, that "everything is fine on our side, and I see that you are well connected in 5G because It says LTE.” To which I replied that 5G is not LTE and that in the Booster interface it is indicated that the 5G network is “disconnected”.

Unfortunately, nothing happened, my interlocutor persisted in his response. I still insisted by saying that I had no speed gain, that the flow was the same with or without Booster. To which I was told to “do tests at three different times of the day, TV off, WiFi off and call back”.

In short, I basically haven’t made any progress thanks to the support regarding my initial problem

Apparently @Roger G from Swisscom seems to know the subject better based on the discussions in the Swiss-German posts.
