Internet-Booster 5G: Speed prüfen, bestellen und schneller surfen

Internet-Booster 5G: check speed, order and surf faster

  • Wish you had faster Internet at home? The new 5G-enabled Internet-Booster will help you achieve faster Internet speed. Read on to discover what the booster can do and how you can order it.

    How the Internet-Booster 5G works

    The booster is an Internet receiver that combines the existing Internet speed of your installed copper line with the fast 5G and 4G mobile network. It will make Internet speeds possible up to 600 Mbit/s, giving you faster Internet in your home office and when streaming videos or surfing, even when several devices are online at the same time.

    Order the Internet-Booster 5G

    Enter your address into www.swisscom.ch/internet and check the possible Internet connection. If the 5G Internet-Booster is available at your location, we will recommend the device in the results. You will also be shown what Internet speeds the booster can achieve.

    If the 5G Internet-Booster is displayed, you can purchase it from the Swisscom Shop or in My Swisscom (My products > Internet S/M).

    Setting up the Internet-Booster 5G

    You can attach the 5G Internet-Booster to the outside of your window, to your window sill or to a balcony railing. Once you have connected it to your Internet router with a cable, you will enjoy the best reception over the mobile network.

      Hi @Mionnienni59

      Unfortunately, blue-TV consumed via TV-Box (multicast) does not yet support the booster. Therefore, your box is limited to the 14 Mbit/s of your DSL connection, which lies below the 40 Mbit/s threshold for UHD.

      Best,

      r00t

    The whole thing still needs to improve, basic speed 120/30Mbit/s, with the subscription “L” and 5G booster it should be 500/100 Mbit/s according to information. be.

    @Ralphy

    I happened to be in a shop yesterday. They don’t know about it yet 🙂

    It will probably take a few more days or weeks until they have the devices and are informed.

    In general, for me the checker with booster says:

    Internet speed: Max. 110 Mbit/s download and 40 Mbit/s upload availableMax. 430 Mbit/s download with the Internet-Booster 5G

    It doesn’t say anything about uploading, interesting. But if I could get anywhere near 300 I would be happy. Let’s see.

    GreetingsTom

    when I read this

    The Booster is an Internet receiving device that combines the existing Internet speed of the copper line at home with the fast 5G and 4G mobile network. An internet speed of up to 600 Mbit/s is possible, or up to 1 Gbit/s from mid-2022. So you benefit from faster internet when working from home, when streaming video or surfing - even if you are online on several devices at the same time.

    Am I correct in assuming that Swisscom will increase the speed of the existing S, M and L subscriptions again by then?

    Thanks for the comments..

    I have FW 12.00.56/12.00.62/01716

    I just called 0800 555 155 and they are sending me a 5G booster… it should be there tomorrow

    The argument that if I were to open a new subscription today and only the 5G booster would be sold and that I was generally entitled to the booster helped

    @kaetho

    It looks like you have no chance of achieving the speed of the “L” subscription with three graduations in reception quality with the 5G booster. I once temporarily switched from the “M” subscription to “L” and can’t even get to 350Mbit/s.

    The “L” subscription was recommended to me in my Kundencenter but is practically impossible to achieve.

    Tomorrow I’ll probably switch back to the “M” subscription, but according to the support request, that’s not a problem.

    In order to achieve such performance as mentioned with the Tread with 1Gbit/s, the 5G antenna must be clearly visible nearby and all five graduation lines must be present on the 5G booster.

    The advantage of the 5G Booster, however, is that you are not limited to a window installation like with the previous one 😉
    I don’t have a window with optimal reception…
    With PoE you are much more flexible…

    @WalterB It basically says “up to” and the 1GB/s only from mid-2022. Until then “a lot of water will still flow through the Aare”.

    However, the announcement suggests that copper subscriptions will generally be adjusted upwards in terms of speed in mid-2022. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t making a mistake?

    The booster is out of the question for me anyway (already on g.fast with good speed, no 5G from Swisscom nearby and if so, then shielded by forest.)

    @Ralphy I wouldn’t assume the booster will work with FW 12.00.xx. Either a 12.02.xx will be installed for you or the hotline won’t know anything again. Then you can currently download 02/12/36 for the IB3 on the SC homepage. That’s ok (if you don’t have fast).

    Yes, the .40 is now officially available. Works very well for FTTH and VDSL. There may or may not be another problem with gfast. Therefore always download 12.00.x and if there is a problem, install it again. If the problem occurs, you no longer have a connection. So load both versions first.

    I’m back from the recommended subscription “L” in Kundencenter to the subscription “M” because the 5G booster with only three divisions of reception power can currently only just achieve the performance of the subscription “M”.

    Such information should not be included in Kundencenter as it gives false hope.

    On the page http://www.swisscom.ch/internet there are several errors when specifying how long it takes to upload 60 photos (300 MB) ( Screenshot as an example from my Anschluss):

    If 48s is specified for Internet S (100 Mbit/s), then for Internet M (300 Mbit/s), i.e. at three times the speed, 16s and not 12s should be specified.

    The error with Internet L is blatant. In my case, the maximum specified with Booster is 350 Mbit/s, and an upload time of 0.24 s (!) is promised.

    @troji

    Yes, you have good 4G or 5G mobile reception in your area.

    In any case, if everything is OK with the mobile reception and you have such a low internet speed, the booster should be available.

    It is also important that the Internet box software for the 5G booster is up to date.
