@Roger G

Is there a right of return for the 5G booster if it becomes apparent during use that it does not live up to expectations? corresponds to the information provided by the checker?

I would switch to the Abo Home “M” and if your booster has 3 graduations of reception power you can get a maximum of around 250/60 Mbit/s. and if the reception e.g. With 4-5 graduations even higher, it may even be possible to get even more with the Home “L” subscription.

What reception performance does the cell phone show you?

With my display of two tick marks on the iPhone 12 Mini and three tick marks on the 5G booster, I get the performance below in the image.

    What is the reason if I have the subscription “M” and cannot reach 300/60 Mbit and when I use the subscription “L” as a test I reach the speed of the subscription “M”.

    I saw that the performance of the 5G booster is increased from -97dBm (ABo “M”) to -95dBm for the (ABo “L”) and around 50-60Mbit/s more are available, which is actually the value of the “ABo” M" should be achieved.

    So it would be technically possible to get the setpoint from ABo “M” without having to use ABo “L”.

    Below are the pictures of the reception performance of the ABo “M” and ABo “L”.

      Question about this: When the 5G Booster is running, I can no longer access my PC via RDP because of the IPv4 in the 100 range, right?

      Addendum: I found the error 😀

      These are my performance values.

      Question: If I switch to InHome with Internet L, will I get more 4G speed to get to 300?

      @Roger G

      "So it would be technically possible to get the setpoint from ABo “M” without having to use ABo “L”."

      Thank you very much for that and that also works with the 4G Booster?

      So I switch to Internet L do I get 300 down with 4G?

      @realGoliath

      You can also do it like I did, first activate the Home subscription “M” and then later activate the Home subscription “L” in Kundencenter. If that doesn’t work, you can switch back to the Home subscription “M” in your Kundencenter without any problems. There is no specific contractual term for this change.

      The whole thing works within 5-10 minutes.

      Yes, it works, but don’t overdo it.

      What may take you longer at the beginning is to switch from your “old” subscription to the Home subscription and if that’s the case, you can choose the Internet Home subscription as a test without any problems.

      It is important that you can no longer switch from a new subscription back to an old subscription that is no longer offered, and also take into account that the Home subscription “S” is not released for the booster.

      As far as I understand there is a 14 day return policy

      Then there is no risk.

      Order a 5G booster, have it activated, test it for 10 days and then decide.

      That’s certainly better than taking any 5G measurements with your cell phone and then speculating.

      And as I said, the 5G booster is IP66 protected and with PoE you can certainly try it under the roof or on a better located house wall. PoE has a theoretical range of 100M, so 30 shouldn’t be a problem for example 😉

      So I think it wouldn’t be bad if Swisscom would install a kind of help/compass that would suggest which direction you should align the antenna.

      How is a normal citizen supposed to know where an antenna is or which of several antennas is equipped with 5G or which one would be next?

      For example, I have a Swisscom 5G antenna in three directions. The other question is which direction should I take?

      I’ve installed the app for a while, but it also needs the 5G booster.

      You can also install a link on your PC to see where the 5G booster has the best reception.

      I was able to use this card where I live because there are only three 5G antennas and they are all from Swisscom.

      @TomTom66

      Trying is more important than studying. You don’t have to build a permanent installation for the booster right away, but you can do everything at your leisure with a “flying” installation at different locations in or. test on the house.

      I can’t answer all the questions because I have to ask myself.

      Installation
      The 5G Booster has an LED on the window side. If you now hold the booster out of the window and rotate it in the Y-axis, you can see how it changes the colors. If it’s green it’s ok. Before you stick the part on, you can also try using the booster’s GUI by observing the RSRP dBm value. The smaller, the better. It’s like using a compass 🙂

      Subscription change

      This is a contract change and it doesn’t happen so quickly. It easily took 2 hours for me because the order has to be checked each time. When it’s done, the so-called “Compensation Speed” for the mobile part of the router is also updated. This is based on the actual measured line values and then fills this up to the subscription. The line values are collected once per day.

      Return Policy

      See terms and conditions (you can already find them)

      Time-controlled shutdown

      myStrom for the PoE power supply is your friend (I think Dani is the only one who does that). But I would justify not switching it off by saying that the part is hanging on the outside of the window 🙂

      Additional performance by switching subscriptions

      If you change the subscription, a higher compensation speed will also be set, but max. to what the location allows (you can see in the checker or Kundencenter). For me, for example, 323mbps max. I’m guessing it’s pure coincidence with @WalterB, because for me too the 5G Receiver performance fluctuates around 2 dBm and is often completely gone. And regardless of the subscription, the speed hasn’t changed for me.

      Interesting..

      I received the 5G booster today. 🙂

      According to Checker I have this:

      Max. 50 Mbit/s download and 28 Mbit/s upload available
      Max. 159 Mbit/s download with the Internet Booster 5G

      The old booster on the window only gave me a total of 90Mb/50Mb..

      Since I was able to install the new one on the house under the roof because the 5G Booster is weatherproof, my speed test even exceeds the checker
      Max 260 Mb DL and 62 Mb UL… even though it’s foggy today…

      But now the funny thing is… Most of the time the booster can’t receive 5G, which is actually a good thing, so I can achieve the values just mentioned with 4G.

      But sometimes it manages to get a 5G signal and since the 5G antennas are far away from me and they are not as strong as the 4G, the speed test only shows around 100 DL and 50 UL…

      The 5G Booster seems to prioritize the 5G band.

      I think I can clearly see this from the ping values, as I have about 15-20ms with 4G and 7ms with 5G..

      In such cases it would actually be better if you could switch 5G on and off yourself in the Nokia settings.

      @Roger G Some devices such as the Zyxel NR7101 offer the option to choose the preferred band in the settings (4G/5G), it would be good if Nokia could also offer this.. for people’s use case Like me, they have better 4G at their location, but they need the 5G booster for IP66 because no usable reception can be achieved at the window.
