The checker said it would be available from 20 December, but today it already says 10 GB/s available. And it can also be ordered in My Swisscom. However, the new material for more speed then said Upgrade Kit Fibre Internet Box. I was then unsure whether this was correct for my Internet Box 2. I was told in the support chat that I shouldn’t order online, they would pass it on as I don’t yet have a socket for glass. Wouldn’t this be organised if I ordered the technology change online?

In the end, I would also pay something to get the IB5, but had assumed that the IB4 would come for free.

    POGO 1104 That’s actually the side issue for me here. You can also buy the IB5, then they don’t have to send me something else first and I still have a voucher that would cover part of the cost of the IB5. And otherwise I’ll just take the IB4.

    I’m more interested in whether the ordering process is mapped correctly for me. I now have the option in My Swisscom to initiate the technology change. However, it only states that I have to replace my fibre optic cable and that seems strange to me. I have an IB2.

      roman70 So the IB2 is only for AON, you can see that the Fibre Kit connection is blue. I can’t imagine that you will still be connected to AON.

      Maybe @Roger G can say something about it. But I would do it by phone or in the shop. They may be able to make you further promotional offers. I got the IB4 for free through the shop at the time and a good 420 credits in total.

        I’ve just had a call agent on the phone who told me my IB2 is fibre optic ready and I’ll just get the associated cables.

        I don’t know that much about it. All I know is that AON are active fibre connections, but that’s about it. I thought they were using XGS-PON. At least it shows an availability of 10 Gbit/s.

          roman70 The IB2 can handle fibre optics, but not XGS-PON. There is therefore a 99 per cent probability that it is not suitable. Unless the connection is still realised using the old technology. But then it will also be converted at some point.

          I would say that the hotline once again has no idea.

            That’s good information for me, that the IB2 is only for AON. But I can’t get any further over the phone or in the shop either, you can also bucket that. Both vehemently insist that I only need the cable and terms like AON and (XGS-)PON are completely foreign to them. All they do is go into my account and see what it says. And it says that I need to upgrade my Fibre Internet Box kit and replace the old cable with this one. So that definitely can’t be right. But if that’s what it says, then that’s the way it is for the telephone hotline and the Swisscom shop employee. That’s it. It makes you feel like a tubeli (which, if I understood correctly, I am only if they really have installed AON, but why would they do that?) I was also told in the shop that I should just wait 3 to 4 months if I don’t have a box yet. It would be installed at some point and then I could contact them again.

              I then placed the order as I had received a really good offer. About 5 minutes later, someone from Swisscom called me back. The problem with the incorrectly displayed material was not the problem. They explained to me that the management of my building wanted to order the installation of the glass box themselves.

              Between Christmas and New Year, the administration understandably put me off until after the holidays. Today I was told by the administration that Swisscom was responsible. Yes, great.

                Yes, I am a tenant. That sentence was never in there. But I don’t think it should be in there like that either. It says: “The building can be connected to fibre optics”. In our case, it’s already connected with fibre optics and only the fibre optic socket needs to be installed.
