  • I say, it’s like the banana vines in Europe…

They can’t get EGP data out cleanly, and at the right time…

Then I can also emigrate to Hiti, at least it’s warm there… hehe

  • @ Glotzologe

Actually, you’re a bit off-topic… what does this have to do with precise recording time? Are you standing in front of exactly the same Garden of Hague as me as the person taking the first version?

What can I do if tvbrowser, tv.search.ch, zattoo, my tvheadend, all get the wrong data?

You’re at exactly the same point as you were at the beginning…

  • Unfortunately, I can’t use the EPG “Running State” on any channel (all TV channels) because the two three minutes are not broadcast correctly. So I only have a follow-up time of 10 minutes, everything above that is wrong.

If I had 10 minutes of follow-up time and EPG “Running State”, the wrong EPG signal would still stop the film from recording too early, despite 10 minutes of monitored time in the follow-up.

So I can only activate the follow-up time. This is all bad.

It’s not Swisscom, UPC or anything like that that’s to blame, it’s the broadcasters themselves…

Normally I use KODI as a client to my tvheadend server,

Generally I have 10 minutes follow-up time, one minute lead time

But if they’re so crooked, like 30 minutes off…

Then I have to go to the server with the WEB interface and place a manual order.

All because the EPG data failed.

    Unfortunately….

Yes, I can also do this with my TV headend, generally I could set a 2-hour follow-up time in the recorder settings.

In the front of the EPG Channel, I could set each channel separately, before/after and/or “EPG Running State”, which then becomes the recorder settings as a priority.

So it’s not the software’s fault… if the data is crooked… I can almost only enter the times manually, i.e. before VPS-VHS recorder times. Even more old-fashioned, really manual. Which is unfortunately the case…

No matter which provider the TV signals come from, the 10 or 20 second delay per provider wouldn’t hurt… in live mode…

    That’s life, says the Frenchman

(to occasionally in addition to the program data)

If you take the two three minutes that are always there and then let the EPG “running state” run when recording,

The 3 minutes of key moments at the end of the film or documentary are always missing.

    Which is a shame…

OK, you’re right, if it concerns the Bluewin TV box, with ondemand or something like that… but BluewinTV live from the TV station would also have to forward the few signals,

.. but then I would have to be quite wrong, yes.. ok, who knows..

In general, it not only affects Bluewin customers, but also others all over Europe, even if you do it via satellite, then I would be surprised if you have a crystal ball. I would like that too.

Maybe Bluewin has enough power over the TV broadcasting stations, in contrast to Me??

  • The endless inquiries about incorrectly timed recordings due to incorrect EPG signals, there seem to be more private video recorders than you think.

As I said, Swisscom is just a relay station, like it used to be on the radio, or I act as a server for emails… I just pipe them on, Swisscom will soon be using EPG, Swisscom will hardly generate any EPG signals 😉 laugh… .

  • @Gaeilgeoir

It doesn’t matter whether I’m a Swisscom customer or not when it comes to EPG data. You can only forward them because you are not the sender.

I also feel sorry for Swisscom, who get endless requests and can’t do anything except play relay stations.

So I think it’s ok and you also have the right to post here as a UPC TV signal user.

    Kind regards, Chris

  • I pay for the crappy TV socket on the wall every month

And then the Billag or the new other name,

    and only scrap comes out,

Now where should I pay for a SUBSCRIPTION? Are you crazy? Sorry, harsh wording 😉

  • You still have the cheap mp4 format, yes? I have.mkv, including subtitles on or off, and the description included….

Why shouldn’t you record privately? And I don’t want to do a subscription, I have UPC channels on the TV socket, you should be able to record them normally, in my.mkv format.

  • You could even send me the commercial breaks as EPG data so that my recording excludes them,

    but they don’t want to…

Everyone too lazy? If I may put it that way?

  • I run a tvheadend TV server, but you can compare it with purchased video recorders for DVB/S or Bluewin TV boxes.

From December 11th to 12th, 2022, Papillon film on SRF1 starts at 12:55 a.m., effective start at 1:20 a.m. (i.e. on December 12th, 2022). Now it’s the case that tv.search.ch, zattoo and my tvheadend don’t notice anything. I took screenshots of all of them. My LCD TV Guide also still had the old data, which it also gets from the signal from the TV station. I have configured my tvheadend so that it updates the data every hour from the station’s official EIT data channel, which is hidden in the TV signal.

At SRF1 there is another bad message, even the teletext SRF1 is not able to show me at 1 a.m. when what is going on that night. Since Teletext SRF1 only has a list at 6:55 a.m….

This is very reminiscent of a Bannana Republic 😉

What makes matters worse is that the EPG start/stop are not adjusted either.

There used to be VPS for VHS recorders (still analogue), this VPS signals worked tens of times better. I have to be honest.

So with SRF1 I have to say that the teletext isn’t even able to show the night program in real time, which is bad. Honest.

And now I have to protect the SRF1 from a technical point of view on EPG start/stop. Most of the well-known German channels have this, ARD ZDF to all the local WDR/BR… whatever they are called, they all have the problem… I don’t even want to talk about the private ones (RTL, 3+,… etc…)

Previously in the VPS, these signals were better adapted for private recorders.

Yes, that’s really sad, you configure your recorder and you’re left hanging.

    I say Service Public 😉
