Android 12 Update on SwisscomBox IP2000 ...

Miraculously, the (less important) Swisscom Box IP1800 was finally updated about a week ago.

Despite the full announcement of a phased rollout six months ago, the update still hasn’t made it to our (more important) SwisscomBox (IP2000) - although:

  • the box was almost always active (except for a few hours when I recently moved)
  • Even a big reset 10 days ago didn’t speed up the process either

What does the DevOps group actually do for the loyal SC customers?

Greetings

Kurt and Catherine

Hello @Stuffiodeust24

The rollout for the IP2000 Box has just begun.

The boxes receive the update in stages.

First the IP1800 and now it’s their turn with the IP2000.

The update will come at some point, you can’t change anything about it and support can’t speed it up

Greetings Lorenz

I have received the update myself, but my colleague hasn’t either. Why so impatient? Does the TV not work without the update? By the way, it is also clearly written that the rollout will be staggered and that you cannot speed it up, not even with a reset or something similar. So please just be patient. The rollout should be completed in the next few weeks and almost every IP2000 box will have received the update.

At least this answer confirms that I ask more stupid questions from the SC corner, I have time.

There may be people who want to use Android and the Google Play Store for additional applications - and no, I’m not talking about gaming. Have you ever thought about the fact that there are a few other providers in the App Store who want and perhaps need to use their apps accordingly?

No such schedule was published for us as customers. And it was written nowhere that the IP2000 customers should be left behind and the roll-out should only begin in a few days. At least I couldn’t find any such information… But we’re “just” stupid customers.

A message was posted in Kundencenter from people around me and also from me that there is an update for TV-Box.

It’s not entirely clear to me why you have to put your frustration here in the “customers help customers” community, we help customers as best we can.

Installationen, Netzwerk, Internet, Computertechnik, OS Windows, Apple und Linux.

@Stuffiodeust24 Why so aggressive? We’re all just customers who get involved here in the forum.

Why a staggered rollout? The main reason is the higher load on the hotline with each rollout. And since this upgrade doesn’t just happen in the background, but requires the customer’s active involvement, there are many more calls for help. And then the rollout is adjusted to fit the capacity of the hotline. And this is not always the same over the course of the month.

There is always a staggered rollout for every product.

Why first the 1800s and then the 2000s? Because the 1800s were simpler and the inventory is much higher than the 2000s inventory.

When time comes, updates come 😉

To prevent further frustration, we’re talking about Android TV and not the “normal” mobile phone Android system. Not all Android apps run on it. There are also some multimedia apps (e.g. network players) that cannot be installed.

And about input, try using voice on the remote. Still works pretty well.

Hello Roger

I have the latest software (Entertainment OS 7) on my IP2000, but the menu for logging in to Google is missing and cannot be found in any of the submenus (at the time of writing this post).

Is this due to the staggered distribution of the software or are the Google functions also being activated/activated gradually?

Greetings Uwe

For example, look here: [https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/blue-tv/update.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/blue-tv /update.html)

Also in the community, countless contributions!

Especially in the Android area, i.e. also with smartphones from Samsung, for example, updates come staggered. Not everyone receives the update in one fell swoop, with the exception of Apple. As I said, I just ask for patience. You can vent your frustration about the missing update as far as I’m concerned, it won’t come any faster because of that. Again… neither the community nor support can speed it up.

It’s quite amusing… the IP2000 boxes have been around for almost exactly 5 years now! The release was in November 2019. We never had a Play Store… until today… and now it’s suddenly pressing?
