Which Swisscom subscription do you have and does 5G work otherwise, e.g. normal in a train station?

In any case, there are already many places where there are objections, but along the SBB lines it should be relatively good.

N.B. I hadn’t been taking the train from Zurich HB to Zug for long and couldn’t detect any interruptions in the 4G and 5G network.

According to the link below, there are very short interruptions, but the Swisscom network shows good coverage compared to the other providers.

I know many SBB routes, including this one. What kind of train are you taking? The Siemens S-Bahn trains? They are the very worst. Unfortunately, there are no repeaters on these trains, or special coated windows that allow mobile communications from outside to pass through are common today. If you are in a place where the coverage is relatively poor anyway, you will no longer have any network on the train. I travel on trains that are well to very well filled enough times that I can say that experience shows that the choice of train carriage (first or last carriage) has no significant influence on the speed of data transfer.

It may have an influence which train you use. From Baden, the S6 is the school train from 6:51 a.m. So from Regensdorf onwards (around 7:10 a.m.) it is no longer full to the brim, but is also overcrowded during school hours in the city of Zurich.

During school holidays it is just full to the brim.

Despite good 4G/5G coverage, there has been a gap in the Zurich-Dolder Grand, Degenried, Loorenkopf area for years. The advantage of this gap is that you are hardly disturbed by phone calls in the Degenried restaurant. When a US president stayed at the Dolder Grand, Swisscom set up a mobile antenna.

I often travel the St. Gallen - Zurich HB route later in the evening (when it’s dark). I have 5G all the time and I can use the ride to enjoy the SRF Tagesschau, ARD Tagesschau and SRF Aktuell without any interruptions on the tablet in the highest resolution (with good headphones, of course). Otherwise, I rarely use my cell phone on the train because I enjoy the view out of the window more during the day than the small screen, so good reception on trains isn’t usually that important to me. >I’ve never had any battery or reception problems with the printed book I took with me 🙂.

I have set all of my devices (Samsung) to 5G.
