Firstly, I would like to mention that I have been working with computers since the 1980s. I am not a beginner. THUNDERBIRD also worked with antivirus and VPN before. I assume that I am not the only one in this Milky Way who works with VPN and antivirus. I have changed the email password several times without success. It doesnāt work with my Swisscom Assistant either.

No, youāre not the only one. Youāre also not the only one who has problems because of it.
You know the solution, you have a choice.
Everything relevant has already been said in the other thread.
Iāve finished hereā¦..

Why did you mark the one in the other post as solved ?
In any case, Thunderbird works normally without problems even if I use it externally with the VPN setup from the Internet box, but otherwise no additional programmes such as āMySwisscom Assistantā, additional anti-virus protection programmes are installed on my Windows and Apple systems.
Installationen, Netzwerk, Internet, Computertechnik, OS Windows, Apple und Linux.
Quite simply this: The virus software scans the inbox, and that no longer works.
There are already enough posts about this.
Microsoftās Defender is already doing a good job.
As a rule, you donāt need any additional software as it is no longer Win XPā¦..
And if you only give the user user rights and do not also have admin rights, it is even more secure.
Greetings Lorenz
RJPSt Iāll try again without VPN and antivirus, although itās not clear to me why it worked for decades before.
Modern email programmes such as Thunderbird and even the mailbox servers themselves are getting better and better at protecting themselves against malware attacks and implausible login attempts.
For example, when an account is opened in Thunderbird, Norton Security launches a man-in-the-middle attack on the queues for incoming and outgoing emails with the aim of being able to read the content of the emails itself.
As this is then consequently assessed as a malware attack and not authorised, an active Norton Security also indirectly makes it impossible to open a new mail account.

Unfortunately, todayās protection is becoming more and more complex and there are many companies that want to bring their software to the buyer, mainly to promote sales.
Youāre right, life is getting more complicated with all the telebanking, solving billing and shopping, and the Internet attacks are getting worse and worse and you can hardly tell the difference between right and wrong.

RJPSt this is deliberately concealed so that the uninformed can still be well cashed in onā¦
P.S. In IT they also say colloquially: Norton the yellow plague.
Here is the explanation:
Norton used to be a great company until it was bought by Symantec. Then the well-known name of the company Norton was used for the security products for home users and has been rightly disreputable for 24 years as the yellow plague.
So, to answer your question, yes, Norton AntiVirus Plus, Norton 360 Standard, Norton 360 Deluxe, Norton 360 Premium can recognise, delete and disinfect viruses, Trojans, malware, malicious software, cracks, keygens and ransom Trojans! But all of it worse than the competition! And with errors and consequences that the name Yellow Plague aptly describes as a clear warning for these poor products!".
