Thunderbird

  • I have been having problems with mail access through Thunderbird for a week. All server settings are according to Swisscom. I changed the email PW, then it worked for a short time. Now mail access via Thunderbird is not possible again. What is the problem?

Do you have any unnecessary security software (Norton, McAfee, etc.) and/or a VPN service installed/activated on the PC?
If so, down/off with the junk!

DanielD I only get the message that no connection to the server is possible. See screenshot. All settings are according to Swisscom. I have also changed the email password.

RJPSt and where is the security and data protection then?

Windows already has good Windows security built directly into Windows from Windows 10 onwards, but this is then switched off by virus scanners from third-party manufacturers, as two security systems cannot run in parallel on Windows.

If you uninstall Avast, Norton, F-Secure or similar, Windows’ own security is then switched on again and everything is back in the “green zone”.

Only those who still believe that external vendors of virus scanners know more about the inner workings of Windows than Microsoft itself will voluntarily do without the free protection that is already built into Windows and works well. All the more so as it is also 100% compatible with the Windows operating system, which is not always the case with third-party products.

RJPSt The newer Windows and Mac versions are completely sufficient for security and data protection, the additional security software that you think you have to install sometimes gets in the way, even though everything worked before. As suggested, I would uninstall the software and see what happens, there will be no reduced protection.
