strangely there were almost no incorrect packages today…. could this be related to the fixing of the problem, after replacing the router no problems so far except that on Sunday some sites were occasionally unavailable for a while. But I don’t want to cheer too loudly. But attenuation and noise are still extremely bad… Sometimes it gets better. Could this be related to the vectoring?
The internet box young? After all, I’ve had the part for a year and a half, and development probably started a lot earlier. And so in a year and a half you can’t manage to implement a simple bridge mode? It can’t be such witchcraft, after all you’re relieving the internet box of numerous tasks, all it has to do is route through.
As far as I’m concerned, you can install a warning screen when switching to bridge mode that Swisscom does not offer support for this operating mode. I think any potential problems with SCTV will be alleviated with higher speeds, as there will be enough capacity left over for TV anyway.
Telephony isn’t an issue for me either, I don’t even have a subscription to SC, it’s done via a third-party VoIP provider. With VoIP, too, it is probably the case that the matter is hardly critical at higher speeds and the corresponding data traffic does not have to be specifically routed (QoS), since there is more than enough bandwidth anyway. In any case, I don’t have any problems making phone calls, even though I don’t use my landline network via the telephone sockets on the box, but rather operate an IP telephone on a LAN-Anschluss and haven’t made any special settings on the router.
But even if you ignore that: the Swisscom Internet box will never be as strong as the external antennas on some routers when it comes to WLAN. It is no coincidence that Netgear, for example, switched back to this design (external antennas) after trying with internal antennas for several generations of devices and then promptly losing out in numerous tests compared to the competition with visible antennas.
You only accept such a long development time like the one with IB because you as a customer can’t avoid it. As a “free” (Swisscom-unbound) router, the box wouldn’t look too good.
*yawn*
Neither the topic of bridge mode nor the topic of telephony has anything to do with the level of development of the Internet box, but simply with strategic decisions.
The Internet box is easily sufficient for 95% of customers, so I think it is at a very good level.
If you have problems with Wi-Fi, you can always get devices elsewhere, as you won’t be restricted.
The Swisscom Box will never be a TOP product.
We have a multiline with 3 phone numbers.
The Swisscom Box is not able to display the missed caller even on the missed phone number.
(Swisscom technicians can also confirm this.)
Keep quiet about the setting security. The Swisscom Box cannot carry out this simple task correctly/completely. As you can see, you still have a lot of work ahead of you.
p.s. The Swisscom All-IP telephones often do not work because they hang or simply restart, etc.
Hello everyone
I have to get in touch here briefly.
First about the new firmware:
TOP! Overall, the IB has come a long way. New features, improved menu. Many of the problems described are not known to me and will probably go away with a proper reset of the IB.
Now for a problem:
WiFi works perfectly. But there has been a huge problem with the range since the V6.x firmware. Since the new firmware, my WLAN radius has been massively restricted. With V5.x this was DEFINITELY a lot better (so this can hardly be due to the built-in antennas).
Is the problem known or are there already suggestions for a solution?
Of course I have already made the factory settings. Even a “normal” restart of the IB doesn’t help.

Barco
How do you know that? What standard do you use as a definition for a “TOP product”?
Name me a TOP product that has no flaws!
Speaking of IP telephony/multiline with the Internet box:
Yes, it’s really not at the level where it should be - but we’re working on it…

….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I just had the opposite experience. Since Rel. 6.x. The range and stability have become much better. To do this, however, I had to “separate” the two networks 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz using different SSIDs. Have you tried that yet? The choice of channel is also crucial. Depending on the environment, auto mode doesn’t work particularly well and you have to use a tool (e.g. inSSIDer) to find good channels and set them manually.
Thank you very much for your answer.
I can try the channel setting. Thanks for the tip.
Since I’m not a professional, I have another question:
If I separate the two networks I have 2 different SSIDs.
Which device do I connect to and which SSID? Or do I then have to record both SSIDs with Natel, for example, and the Natel automatically connects to the better one (if so, doesn’t the device always switch back and forth?)
Sorry for the many questions 🙂
Greetings Marco
My current settings:
Hello
There is currently still a small bug fix release being tested. It has already been rolled out to 10,000 customers and if everything continues to go well, which it looks like at the moment, then it will go out to all Internet boxes shortly. The release only affects the NP part and in particular a problem with WLAN is being solved, which can have a negative impact on the range in certain cases.
Basically, when it comes to measurements in the laboratory, the WLAN has improved significantly with the 6 release. We have updated the entire driver level with Broadcom. It couldn’t be more current. In reality, of course, many factors play a role in how much of the improvement actually arrives.
So. Please be patient because of the range issue.
Guido
Here again the reference to the new version of the app for the Internet Box:

For most wireless devices I only set up the 2.4 GHz, as the range of the 5 GHz is very limited. I set up both SSIDs on the iPhone 5 and it works without any problems. I don’t always check whether the device is currently actively connected to 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. But I didn’t notice any annoying constant switching between the two networks. Since the behavior varies depending on the device and environment, you have to try it out yourself and find the best solution for you. When it comes to WiFi, there aren’t generally applicable rules for everything.
Hello everyone
I have two problems:
The DynDns doesn’t work for me (was already discussed once at the beginning of April):
and secondly, when I try to switch on IP telephony in the Internet Box app on the iPhone, I always get the message that an IP subscription from SC is required - which is done automatically with the Internet Box.

Hello everyone.
Thanks for your answers.
Then another question comes up…:
Is the quote correct??:
“FW 06.01.13 will also appear on the well-known Swisscom support page in the next one to two weeks.”
This is not intended to be a complaint, but should this really be the case that the new firmware is rolled out everywhere StepbyStep (including those where everything runs perfectly) and for the others (like me, for example, with major WLAN problems) with the necessary knowledge about this Do you have to wait until the firmware can be downloaded?
Best regards and thank you for your efforts.
Greeting
Marco
