Good evening.

I have a customer who reports the same 143 IMAP error to me. I entered the error into Google and ended up here in the Swisscom forum.

So the error is not fixed. I just tried to access my customer’s bluewin account and the error has been occurring very regularly for hours. Above all, he complains that this has been happening to him a lot for days, weeks and months.

Is there nothing I can do about this other than switching to POP?

I would be happy to receive an answer directly from Swisscom. It’s quite difficult for me to be asked by customers about problems and then give the answer that Swisscom is to blame. It sounds like I have no idea and would like to pass the problem on. Please provide an official statement. I have set up other IMAP accounts on my PC that run through Webland.ch hosting, and they always work perfectly.

Thank you very much and have a nice evening

However, at the moment there are general email server problems and so it will be difficult to determine an error.

In Outlook 2007 I get the imap error code 0×800ccccdd on port 143

All settings according to Bluewin Help instructions.

What is the solution?

Thanks

Show original language (German)

Please excuse my renewed request. I live in Thailand and tried to complete the Swisscom settings (profile), but this is not possible due to my location (outside Switzerland). It could be that the IMAP doesn’t work because of this, but it should - no matter where I am.

I am more than receptive to a solution. In Switzerland I have problems with foreign countries, when I’m abroad I have problems with foreign countries… but the problems are always generated in Switzerland.

Am I really forced to use a foreign provider (with international services). I think it is time for Swiss companies to think globally and operate locally, with an international flair.

Thank you for the support.

Kind regards

IMAP reception should work, sending most likely won’t work. There are reasons for that too. (Preventing SPAM from being sent via third-party providers). By the way, this has nothing to do with Swisscom; it is the same with other providers.

To receive via port 143, set the server timeout to a higher time in the incoming server settings.

Actually, using webmail is THE solution abroad.

Greetings, o.s.t.

….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Hello o.s.t.

After I tried your recommendation (as well as all the others unfortunately without the desired success) I switched to POP. The IMAP works perfectly via NETZONE, but I wanted to cancel NETZONE and only use the Bluewin account because I never really used my HP i-dot.org anyway (I’m just too lazy).

I want a solution that is as provider independent as possible… but not my own mail server… smile… Doesn’t work… big SMile.

What mail program would you recommend? Icredimail or…? Thanks for any reply.

Are you THE o.s.t.?

Regards, MusV

Dear fellow sufferers,

This problem has existed for years and Swisscom is completely incompetent. Apparently they can’t solve the constant interruptions and connection problems to the mail server. It’s not due to IMAP (we’ve been using this in our business for a long time without any problems). I’ve never seen a mail system as shaky as Swisscom’s (also with POP). There is no choice but to live with it or change provider. Since I only use the Swisscom mail account for private purposes, I can still cope with the delays, but if I needed it for business, I would have changed provider long ago.

Show original language (German)

Hello pe

I’ve had more failures recently and I completely agree with your opinion.

The longer Swisscom’s services leave more to be desired!

At these prices, which we pay monthly, you should expect that your system will work more or less error-free. Of course, Swisscom is not immune to the fact that failures and disruptions can occur, but God knows this IMAP problem has been known about for a long time and I wonder more and more whether there are real experts working on troubleshooting the problem , or any “hobbyists”.

What also bothers me is that Swisscom has not made any statements on the subject.

Both of us are certainly not the only users/customers who are annoyed about this situation.

I’m starting to get the feeling that Swisscom’s customer dissatisfaction and complaints are going nowhere.

Show original language (German)

I now see it the same way as ‘pe’. After a few months of peace and quiet, server interruptions are now occurring again, quite frequently (several times a day). I don’t have such problems with imap access with any other provider. In addition to Swisscom, I also use netzone.ch, 1and1.com, 1und1.de. Wish everyone a lot of patience!

Show original language (German)

I agree that such interruptions, although I cannot understand them at the moment, are annoying.

But reading again and again as if you only pay the bills for the email account makes me really suspicious… at least that’s how it’s always presented, i.e. whether you pay for the email and the Internet, TV and telephony are easy even the smallest bonus services to round off the package…

I don’t think you should trivialize it, but I think you should keep the ball flat here too…

Well, I can’t quite understand your composure and don’t see the email account as pure goodwill that you get from Swisscom for free on top of the package. Anyone who wants to use the offer in business life is pretty much at a loss without a well-functioning email account today, as this is a vital part. He may also want to transmit in encrypted form so that not everyone can read. And that doesn’t work properly at Swisscom either. Email is probably even more important than the web. You could live without the rest that comes with the package, because it’s really just a gimmick and entertainment. Of course, I like to use it and don’t want to miss it, but as I said before, I only use the Swisscom account privately and it’s not that bad, but sometimes it’s still annoying when you get a message too late.

Yikes, the old IMAP problems are back. As an immediate measure, I uninstalled Quick Help again so I don’t see too many error messages at the same time. I actually thought this problem had definitely been fixed.

There has also been a problem on the iPhone for a few days now.

incorrect username or password.

After a few tries it usually works.

Of course there is no problem with the username/password.

Show original language (German)

Since yesterday my password was no longer accepted on Mail (“Bluewin IMAP server does not accept the user’s password”), but everything worked perfectly on Bluewin.ch.
Nobody responded to my letter, so I called support today.

The first advisor just said that “Mail” was not a Swisscom product and that I therefore had to contact Amico for CHF 30.00 per 15 minutes. I pointed out to him that IMAP problems were being pointed out in the community. He then recommended that I use the repair tool and, if necessary, contact me again.

Of course the tool didn’t find any errors and I called again.

This time I caught a friendly, competent advisor who told me that I should enter a new password in Kundencenter.

And……. TATAAAAAAAAA……. Mail is working again! Apparently Swisscom issued a new password without me knowing about it.

I hope this long text has helped some other half-desperate users…:smileyhappy:

Greetings from Chrisi

Hello Chrisi,

I don’t want to take away your joy, but I suspect that it will only be short-lived. Because I even set up the accounts again with the Swisscom program so that nothing different than what Swisscom wanted was set up. It worked for a while and then the interruptions came again. This is always accompanied by the message that the server does not accept the password and after a while it works again and then not again. Things have been really bad again since yesterday. But at the moment it’s working again. Nothing helps, it is advisable to get a few carrier pigeons and always look after them well. But please don’t feed them too much, because they have to be fit if you’re a Swisscom customer.

Greeting

Pe
