Subscription for 8-year-old daughter in her name, but under my Swisscom login. Not possible?

  • Hi

I would like to take out a Mobile subscription for my 8-year-old daughter in her name, but under my Swisscom login.

I wanted to show my daughter’s ID card, but the nice lady in the shop said that would be a different Swisscom login (not mine).

According to the shop, this is not possible. I have to take out the subscription under my name. Is that right?

If my daughter is 14-17 years old and does “nonsense” on the Dark Web, for example, is this done under my name? Of course I’m responsible anyway, but I’d prefer the Mobile subscription to be in her name.

With Xbox, Apple and PS5 it is possible to create an account under your daughter’s name, I am only registered as a parent and can control/restrict the account.

Thanks for clarification and have a Merry Christmas soon

    • To take out a mobile subscription, you must be 18 for postpaid offers (16 or 18 for prepaid, depending on the provider), so there is no other solution

If you are already assuming that your daughter will be travelling on the dark web in 6-9 years, I would be more worried than the mobile subscription

Normally the Swisscom login incl. name for the ABo is always the same user.

But you can, for example, simply adjust the bill for a different name and pay with your own account.

N.b. but there could be a problem with the age of majority for your own account?

I understand your concern, but this is not really possible. You have to run the subscription under your name and login or have your daughter’s own login where you have access at all times. Basically, you can also ask yourself whether a mobile subscription is the right thing for an 8-year-old child and whether it wouldn’t be better to use a prepaid plan? Even if parents are not liable for everything the child does, e.g. concluding online contracts, making purchases, etc., you are still largely responsible. cybi Yes, 8 is a bit early, especially for a subscription (and not prepaid)

I remember when I was 10 and had my first old mobile phone (an iPhone 3GS) with an Mbudget prepaid SIM and then at some point there was the offer of 10 Mb data volume per month for free. And then when I was 12 I got a Salt Surf subscription in a dual SIM mobile phone for 500 Mb of data for CHF 5 a month (+ the 10 Mb from the Mbudget SIM in the other slot).

      Those were the days 😂

You’ve grown up to be very modern 😄In my case, it was a mobile phone that everyone had if they wanted to be there back then. You really had to keep an eye on the money because texting and making calls was very expensive. Calls to other networks in particular cost as much as 1.29/minute. But SMS also cost a lot of money. I think it was 30 centimes per SMS. What exactly is WhatsApp? Games? There was only Snake on it and I played it for hours. The biggest danger back then was the expensive text messages. Jamba ringtones send their regards 😆 Yes, those were different times. When I look at how you can communicate for free today, quickly look something up on Google or read something on Wikipedia. When I think about AI now, I sometimes wonder how we used to do it 😉

          It used to be earlier!
