Replace the Swisscom router with a Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway

Good morning,

Is it possible to replace the InternetBox from Swisscom with a Cloud Gateway from Ubiquity, for example the Dream Machine Pro?

Do you have any feedback?

The goal is in particular to be able to make Vlans and use VPNs as well as to have greater control…

If the answer is yes, what information must be provided so that our connection is authentifier by Swisscom?

Thank you for your feedback

Good morning,

I have browsed many forums and I realize that many Swisscom customers are blocked and cannot use the Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro router as a replacement for the Swisscom router with a copper line connection.

Swisscom does have a list of certified devices that can replace the router usually provided when taking out a subscription, but the model we are discussing is not one of them.

Will Swisscom add the Dream Machine Pro to the list of tested and approved devices?

Article 7-11 of the ordinance on telecommunications services (OST) says that providers of Internet access have the obligation to publish the technical specifications of the interfaces to allow physical access to telecommunications networks. … “They must indicate to customers free of charge, upon request, the characteristics and access data necessary for access to telecommunications networks and the use of the services in accordance with paragraphs 1 and 2.”

I contacted paid customer service (40 CHF per 15 minutes) but nothing happened.

Swisscom has had to call me back for 2 weeks now but I’m still waiting…

Has anyone managed to get a Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro to work without any Swisscom router and on a copper line?

Thanks in advance for sharing

Here is the assembly:

Copper line > Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro > Ubiquiti POE Switch > Computers and other devices

Greetings

I’m in the same situation as you. My IB3 does not allow me to do site-to-site because

Unifi Site manager does not “see” the public IP address of Swisscom.

I tried with a Centro Grande 2.0 but no difference even when activating IP passthrough.

The ideal would be to only have a modem and not a modem router but there are so many that I’m quite lost.

I also consulted the Swisscom page on this subject:

[https://www.swisscom.ch/fr/clients-prives/aide/peripheriques/internet/routeur-externe.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/fr/clients-prives/aide/peripheriques/ internet/external-router.html)

In the end, I don’t know which one to choose, at least the best one…

If you have any advice on choosing a modem, I’m all ears 🙂
