It’s absolutely amazing but I’m sure. I think it could be because I think the software also directs the signals where they should go. If this was not taken into account in the programming that the box has such a Anschluss, the software/function of the device does not know this and the signal is no longer routed to this channel… (?!)

I guess I’ll wait and see what others have to say about it or who will test it this evening. Before that it was all just speculation and there wasn’t much to puzzle about. It could be that this problem only occurs to you? Because some who also have the update cannot at least confirm the problem.

Thanks for the effort. But this is best done when the image (HDMI) cable is only connected to a monitor or projector etc. that does not have any TV set functions. I’m happy to have the freedom to send images and sound to individual “dumb” output devices (neither a TV set nor a computer), individual images via HDMI and individual audio via the audio output to the stereo system… That’s why the new TV-Box worked for me my purposes no longer. If after the update this no longer works; then it would be fatal… At least that’s how it was after the update was installed…

That’s true… - what’s important - there is no TV set that is somehow connected to the box, but a monitor for the image signal via HDMI and the music system (or headphones) for the audio signal. With remote control of the TV box (without additional remote control). It’s nice to see so many answers and thank you! It’s stupid, the new box no longer has an audio output.

Should work with the adapter at the link below.

Installationen, Netzwerk, Internet, Computertechnik, OS Windows, Apple und Linux.

Exactly there is an adapter… I had already seen this when you sent me the new box and I was faced with the problem. That’s why I had the older model delivered…

Why is there no longer an audio Anschluss on the new TV box - and is it so expensive to produce or is it no longer appropriate to have one attached to the TV box?

I don’t really like these adapter stories and purchases. I would also rather have a simple monitor than a TV - why do I need one if I have the TV box? The sound is usually better over the music system anyway, right?

In any case, it’s great how many answers there are in the community when I have the problem that I want to watch TV on such a beautiful summer afternoon and no longer have the sound after the Android update. (e.g. the squeaking of the wheels at the Olympic Games…)

Caution: For all TV-Box 21 that make the inevitable update, the audio socket (direct RCA jack plug audio output on the device) no longer works in Anschluss.

You should take back this blanket statement - because it is not true!

I have the latest Android AoT on my Box21 and the audio output works without any problems. No matter what is on the HDMI-Anschluss (TV, PC monitor or nothing at all) the audio output is always active.

As other users have confirmed here in this process.

Why that doesn’t work for you is another question…

Dear Swisscom community

My Swisscom TV Box received the new update yesterday. Update completed. Now I’ve already spoken to 3 different supporters on the phone because the picture stops when I watch TV. The TV box and router were reset x times and everything was reinstalled. Without success! Now I read on the internet that your Samsung television with Smart TV must not be older than 2017. Older televisions do not support the new Android operating system! It makes me incredibly angry that I now have to buy a new TV just because of this shitty update! My Samsung Smart TV was built in 2014. Why does everything always have to be replaced when the old one still works? And will Swisscom now finance a new TV for me? Hardly! I didn’t want the update. Impudence!

Hi @Ivanera

You are “misinformed”. This year applies to devices on which Android TV is installed directly.

Since this is running on your TV box, the TV doesn’t have to support it 😉.

So calm blood…

How exactly is the TV box connected to the Internet box? Does the replay also stall?

It can’t be the TV and must be the box.

I’m just wondering why Swisscom doesn’t just automatically send out the latest box instead of forcing an update on the old boxes that these old TV boxes might not even be designed for?

1. For ecological reasons (sustainability). This is clear even to me as a non-Green.

2. For me, the new software runs SIGNIFICANTLY better on the Box 21 than on the Box 5, even though I’ve had beta versions there for many weeks. So it’s individual.

Why aren’t they created? The claim is baseless! I don’t think any provider/manufacturer takes the risk of releasing an update that only causes problems because the hardware isn’t designed for it without having tested it extensively. Especially since updates sometimes cost a lot of money! If the hardware cooperates, there is no reason not to upgrade the box so that all other customers can also benefit from new functions without being forced to buy a new box. Something like this is also very sustainable, which is currently very trendy anyway. Most of the time there is bullying because the providers or manufacturers no longer provide any updates and the devices are then EoL (End of Life)! We always see people here in the forum who are almost annoyed when an update comes out. The bottom line is that it’s always the same. You can never please everyone… but I personally think it’s great that many TV boxes get an upgrade to a new Android version.

@Loxiran Everything worked perfectly when switching over on my old Swisscom TV 21 and it’s already a few years old, it even ran better than the TV Box 5. Why should Swisscom equip everyone with new boxes? You can buy the box with the option to download apps. If you don’t want that, you can stick with the old one, that’s how it was until now. You could also have decided to leave it as it is and not retrofit the older boxes. Then nothing changes at all for owners of the older box. Now you do that and it’s not right either.

And, how many times in my life have I heard: it can’t be because of X, it has to be because of Y, then it was exactly the other way around…
