geoblocking

  • Is it possible to set up geoblocking with Swisscom or have it set up?
I would like my router and the devices connected to it (e.g. NAS, camera, home control system, etc.) to be accessible only from countries of my choice.

    • No, that’s not possible. It is also pointless, as everything is possible via VPN connections anyway. The router itself is not really accessible from the Internet anyway. Everything is blocked or protected. And if you have not activated UPnP on the router, which is deactivated by default, then the risk is further minimised.

The biggest risks are outdated, unpatched devices (NAS, IoT, etc.) and yourself.

      Hi Chr.S

While VPNs make geoblocking ineffective(ly), VPN is also the solution - why allow entire countries when you can already restrict access to users at the network level with a VPN?

The Internetbox already has some options on board: https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/internet/vpn-einrichten.html

WireGuard or Tailscale, for example, offer more flexibility - the latter is the choice if you don’t want to configure much.
