Hello, I now only have one switch (I replaced the linked switch with one from TP-Link (from Swisscomâs official website)) and thatâs it. Now, after a few MB/S downloads, my PC suddenly experiences a brief internet outage (no internet symbol) and then it works again. I donât understand it anymore. I canât even see what it is because the error quickly recurs. It really canât be the cable, all other devices work. Has the mainboard been fried or is it Windows?

Hello @Sevii
You could try out Linux on your PC with a USB Live and then youâll immediately see whatâs going on with your PC.
I also have sticks like these in the support area, so I can show customers very quickly that the PC is working and that some Windows driver has gone badly wrong.
As long as you only try out live mode, nothing will happen to your data.
Greetings Lorenz
Well, apparently itâs not my PCâs fault. Iâm having problems again after about a week. This switch doesnât let any signal through. As soon as I unplug it and plug it back in, it doesnât work again very shortly afterwards. I also no longer have access to this Swisscom internet box thing. Iâm really starting to despair. Is this because of Phillips Hue? Or is the Swisscom network simply too stupid for multiple devices?
Good day everyone.
I also had a post before where I asked for help and Iâm happy that there are nice people here who can help you faster and better than Swisscom support could ever do.
I have a question now; Apparently I had a network loop back then because I;
From my INTERNET BOX to a switch to another switch. Then the problem was solved.
Now I bought another switch from Swisscom itself (TP-Link Jetstream) because I thought it was compatible and that it was better.
Well after a week it is no longer recognized by the âsystemâ and is thrown out. Since I have no idea what it could be, I wanted to ask here. Maybe someone has experience.
Important: I canât get an internet connection on the devices connected to the switch. With the rest, yes. I donât think it can be the cable because the internet was already coming through before. I havenât changed or configured anything on the switch. Unpacked, plugged in and ready. It went smoothly. Iâve already tried a restart.
It currently looks like this in the system:

Have you already removed the TP-Link switch from the power supply for 5 seconds?
Is the TP-Link connected to the Internet box at 1Gbit/s Anschluss.
There is another error in that the TP-Link is not displayed in the network diagram when the Internet box is restarted, but it always works in the background for me.
N.B. I also gave the TP-Link switch a fixed IP address in the Internet box menu.

Did you briefly unplug the TP-Link switch from the power supply before making this setting?
How long is this LAN cable from the Internet box to the switch and does it go directly from the Internet box to the switch and not internally via distributors or sockets?
Hang the switch with a very short LAN cable on the Internet box and without any devices attached to it. In this test you can connect the PC directly to the LAN cable where the switch was previously connected.

If you do my suggested attempt you can see whether the switch works normally when connected directly with a short LAN cable.
I think the problem is somewhere in the long LAN connection to the switch and the question is still open is this long LAN cable connected directly to the Internet box without any terminals or sockets in between.
N.B. Was this 20m long Ethernet cable bought pre-configured or made with the plug yourself?
Assuming itâs an 8-pin Ethernet cable and not just a 4-pin one?

Itâs a normal Ethernet cable 20m, with a connector in between (like a Lan to Lan adapter because the cable was too short). Nothing more. Otherwise it is connected directly from the Internet box to the switch. The cable was laid through the apartment. Nowhere via a plug/behind the wall or anything. You can see the 20m cable through the apartment. I canât imagine that the cable suddenly broke after a week, as the signal was coming through before. (Even this morning, strangely enough, but only to the PlayStation)

We wonât get any further if you donât do the test with the switch, first over a short LAN directly on the Internet box and, if thatâs good, the switch in front of the LAN adapter.
The TP-Link works without any problems over a 20m 8-pin or longer Ethernet cable.
I had already used a 60m long 8-pin Ethernet cable without any adapters in between.
Did you buy it recently or much earlier?

I bought it on digitec on October 14, 2023:

I tested it directly on the router and nothing came up, the switch just flashed green under âSystemâ.
If the LED on the switch flashes green it is ok, that also means that it is a 1Gbit signal, if it is yellow it would be 100Mbit.
What do the LEDs at outputs 1-8 show? These should also flash when a device is connected and switched on.
