Emails older than a year via EAS

  • Hello everyone

    It was with great anticipation that I switched my email account from IMAP to EAS so that I could also synchronize calendars and contacts.

    Unfortunately, I discovered that emails are only synced up to a year ago. Older messages are ignored.

    Since this cannot be configured in Outlook, I assume that it is a server setting and ask for adjustment. (For Microsoft Exchange it would be a server setting, but since Outlook uses EAS and not Outlook Anywhere, I assume a third-party product is used.)

    Unfortunately, support didn’t understand my request. But it should be clear that you want to have all emails displayed on your PC.

    Thank you very much for your support!

    • Additionally here from the official help:

      With Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) you can access and manage your email, calendar, contacts and tasks on your smartphone.

      • Synchronization: emails, calendars, contacts and tasks
      • Compatible with Mail App (iOS) and Gmail App (Android)
      • Available with Bluewin E-Mail pro and Bluewin E-Mail advanced

      So currently not suitable for Outlook Desktop

    This is more of a supplement to your question, but regarding the synchronization of calendar and contacts, this will not work on the PC level, because Swisscom only announced the synchronization option for the iOS and Android platforms with regard to a Bluewin account, i.e. nothing for Windows , MacOS or Linux.

    For comprehensive synchronization of calendar and contacts across all platforms, it is still not recommended to have a Bluewin account, but rather, as has been the case for many years, a Google, Microsoft or iCloud account.

    Thank you for this post - I had the exact same thing.

    After switching from IMAP to EAS (Exchange ActiveSync) - on my iPhone - I found that emails were only synchronized for up to a year (12 months).

    @Swisscom can you please correct this behavior?

    Thank you!

    • WABU has responded to this post.

      @WABU thanks for the suggestion.

      We currently use Google Calendar, which basically meets our needs for the whole family.

      But now there is the new “Bluewin E-Mail basic”, which offers synchronization via Exchange.

      --> see: [https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/e-mail/neues.html](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/privatkunden/hilfe/e- mail/news.html)

      I think this is brilliant and am willing to pay an extra charge for it.

      BUT, then I would also like to be able to use all functions without restrictions.

      On Monday I will try to get help from Swisscom support.

      Since the Bluewin Exchange Sync of contacts and calendar is only offered for iOS and Android and not for Windows, if you also have PCs and notebooks, it’s best to just stick with the current Google account structure.

      Any limits should be independent of the client software used.

      Or to put it another way: Has anyone set up EAS on Android or iOS and can access emails that are more than a year old?

      @JanineZ

      The real problem still exists:
      -> EAS (Exchange ActiveSync) only synchronises mails up to one year (12 months)
      .

      Unfortunately I did not get any further via the Swisscom support and I would like to ask you to forward this problem.

      Thank you
