In contrast to Switzerland, there is already communication from the network operators in Austria, let’s hope that there is just a little delay here.

Sunrise customers have also expressed their interest in the relevant forum, but have not yet received clear communication there either.

On the macprime article: 7 very entertaining and meaningful comments (and an 8th one that brings the level right back to 0 😃).

But seriously: I regret that RCS is not a priority at Swisscom - in my opinion the demand is definitely there, it’s just that most people don’t even know that they want RCS. Really a shame. From one day to the next, WhatsApp & Co would practically no longer have a reason to exist (to put it a bit exaggeratedly). I’m currently forced to use a third-party messenger app (formerly Threema, now WhatsApp again…) because I can no longer send pictures to non-iMessage users via SMS - this is a missed opportunity for the big messengers to be able to stand up to the challenge with a sensible, native solution.

Maybe maybe, with every request to Swisscom support about when RCS is coming, the Jira Epic slides a little higher on the priority board 😉

And another personal thought (without wanting to initiate a fundamental discussion): Since many people in my environment are switching to providers like Wingo and household costs are constantly rising anyway, I’m also considering a change - I can no longer gloss over the subscription prices in all respects ". However, a functioning RCS or at least a clear orientation/planning in this direction would be a strong argument for staying with Swisscom. Conversely, if a provider introduced RCS, I would probably be strongly inclined to switch.

But it could then be that Swisscom only offers the RCS function through its subscriptions and not through rented providers such as CoopMobile. Don’t know if that also counts for Wingo since it is a Swisscom brand.

First of all, we hope that Swisscom introduces RCS!

But I think it will then be introduced for everyone who uses the Swisscom network. Anything else would be illogical in my opinion.

Even if so, this does not necessarily automatically apply to providers in Switzerland. See the roaming problem. Roaming no longer applies de facto within the EU.

But it is as expected. The providers are still in no hurry with RCS. Probably not interested (anymore) anyway.

Hello everyone.

I have a Pixel 9 pro xl and I can use it to send pictures etc. to other Andoid devices via RCS. Unfortunately, this does not work in the direction of Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro. Too bad Apple and I really regret that I still have to use WhatsApp. I hope it will be made available to the Apple community soon.

The fact that it works with Android is due to the Google Messages app. Google runs these SMS via its servers and not via the provider. Many providers, at least in Europe, do not support RCS. That’s why it usually doesn’t work across ecosystems. The ball is in the providers’ court.

Lesen, was auf dem Bildschirm steht.

GuidoL The ball is in the providers’ court.

Exactly, and you’ve got chaos again. I have no idea how RCS is supposed to be a success. But as I said, the providers are probably not in the mood anyway.

SteJo it’s because of Swisscom and not Apple. RCS is blocked and you are forced to use WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Threema, Telegram, Snapchat and other crap instead of having all conversations in a standard messaging app in iOS. The fragmentation of messengers is unbelievable 🙁

      Really? That would be nice….

I’m on Android (Sony Xperia 1 VI) but compared to anis on iOS, it would be nice to finish the RCS access for iOS since Apple has made its way on its side (end of 2024). Anyway, since the end of iO.(Swisscom) , I’ve been using Swisscom E-Mail, SMS/RCS and Messenger (because of Facebook) so I don’t want a multitude of different systems and SMS(RCS) are native in mobiles (and very useful for login verification, bus tickets….)

By the way, WhatsApp and Messenger will still be compatible by 2025.
