Wlan box 2 does not receive wifi

Good morning,

I have a wlan box 2 and for a few days it has no longer been receiving the wifi signal from my internet box 2. The only time it picks up the signal is if it is in the same room (which is not very useful…) and even loses it regularly. So, of course, as soon as I move it upstairs (where it worked very well until now) it no longer picks up anything and constantly flashes red. I tried to bring it a little closer (on the stairs), I reset the wlan box, I tried at least 20 times to pair with the internet box, nothing works. Have you ever had this problem?

Hello Black Mamba,

Thank you for this advice which I followed to the letter but unfortunately it did not resolve my problem. Despite the reset and resynchronization using the ethernet cable, the WLAN-Box no longer picks up the signal when I put it back in its initial location. Everything is fine in the same room but as soon as you move away from the internet box it glitches. I think it is defective but I don’t remember what year I bought it.

Good morning,

I just replied to Black-Mamba. Unfortunately his advice did not resolve my problem. I don’t know when I bought it and therefore if it is still under warranty but it has been more than 2-3 years in any case so I don’t think so.

Finally I went to the Swisscom shop and they kindly offered me either to replace my WLAN-Box 2 or that I buy the WLAN-Box 3 which is apparently more powerful. To be sure I bought the 3 but unfortunately it still doesn’t work 🙁((

I’m starting to wonder if the problem isn’t with my internet box. Besides, I did a reset earlier, disconnected everything, reconnected everything and tried pairing again with the WLAN-Box but it was not conclusive.

Thank you Doremi,

I had already carried out this check by connecting directly to my Internet box (I had found this information on the web) before writing my message in the community and I confirm that the WIFI signal from my Internet box 2 is good set to 100% but thanks for trying to help me.

Cordialement.

To @Boubou091076,

I would go back to the Swisscom shop with the wlanbox 3 and the internet box and tell them that it still doesn’t work. And you ask them what solution they offer you.

Maybe an exchange of the internet box? In any case you can get a refund for the wlanbox 3.

Hello Prelude,

Yes, I will probably ask to change to an internet box 3 but in the meantime I have found a transitional solution. I took out my two Powerline sockets and I therefore have wifi upstairs which is transmitted by the electricity network. For the moment it works but a priori it is not completely stable, already had a signal cutoff just after installation. We’ll see what happens and if ultimately it’s conclusive I will hesitate and think about redoing the WLAN connection.

Good evening everyone and thank you for your advice, tips, etc.

Hello everyone, I have exactly the same problem as @Boubou091076.

After more than an hour of discussion with a hotline technician and numerous tests, the solution offered to me was to move the WLAN Box 2. In fact, up to approximately 4 m in the same room and in a straight line, the connection was described as good (but the WLAN Box indicator light “pulsated” red, indicating a low quality signal according to the instructions).

As this solution is not viable for my use, I ordered a new Internet Box 3 today at my own expense. I will keep you informed of developments as soon as the new router is put into service.

After a few weeks, I can see that changing my Internet Box 2 for an Internet Box 3 has solved the problem and improved the stability of my private network.

You write that the Internet Box 2 is available because there were always problems due to defective WLAN.

Unfortunately I can’t find the info where you can check this here in the community.

      Hello

Yes, some IB2 internet boxes have experienced Wi-Fi problems and have been replaced free of charge. I myself was affected by this problem, and Swiscom identified that the serial number of my IB2 corresponded to a Wi-Fi malfunction. It was therefore replaced by an IB3. On the community site, there was even a test for the boxes concerned, but I can’t remember the exact procedure.
