When I take public transport, all the boys are on their cell phones and sometimes even forget to get out.
My opinion is that young people are more attached to their cell phones than the older generation and that is where we should start to question their dependency.

on a Windows PC, you have to turn it off (completely) every day, otherwise it might start to slow down (and not update itself!).
as far as mobile phones are concerned, simple…
use a slightly silly 4G / LTE mobile phone (calls and texts):

You don’t have to rely on your cell phone when shopping or making payments.
For shopping I use the good old shopping list and I make cash and payment transactions on the PC and use the yellow box from PostFinance for authentication.
I rarely use my cell phone at home anyway, because why should I laboriously work on a small cell phone screen when it’s much easier, faster and more comfortable on the 4k 32-inch screen?
On the shopping list in old age:
Make a written shopping list based on the store where I shop. This is how I train my memory. Then by item groups fruit, vegetables, pasta, canned goods, dairy products, meat products, frozen foods, hygiene and
Detergent, drinks. Almost all supermarkets are set up in order. As you get older, it makes sense to train your brain at home and not let it shut down prematurely and atrophy. I leave the note in my coat pocket and walk around the store with my active brain.
