Swisscom Assistant finds that the time on my PC is incorrect

  • From time to time, the Swisscom Assistant finds that the time on my PC is incorrect: “My Swisscom Assistant has determined that the time on the computer is not correct”.

    The time is perfectly correct. I also checked whether the BIOS/UEFI might have the wrong time. But that is not the case.

    Why is the Swisscom Assistant wrong? Error in the app?

    Thanks for the support!

    (By the way, I also wonder why the Swisscom login automatically gave me such a stupid username, but that’s another chapter…)

      Dann wurde ich am Telefon darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass weitere Abklärungen / Unterstützung von Swisscom My Service kostenpflichtig wären.

      Wir haben uns deshalb darauf geeinigt, dass ich entweder (a) in My Swisscom Assistant eine Einstellung suchen würde, um allenfalls solche Benachrichtigungen abzuschalten, oder dass ich (b) den My Swisscom Assistant deinstallieren oder © die Warnmeldung bezüglich der Uhrzeit einfach ignorieren würde.

      Nur um es abschliessend noch festzuhalten: der Hinweis auf die “falsche” Uhrzeit taucht immer dann auf, wenn ich beim Aufstarten des PCs noch keine Internetverbindung habe. Wäre für mich aber immer noch kein Grund, mir eine falsche Fehlermeldung zu schicken…

      Damit ist für mich der Fall abgeschlossen. Danke an alle beteiligten Helfer:innen

    @Chaziosse19

    Did you perhaps set the wrong country variant and then correct the time manually?

    P.S.:

    In my opinion, the assistant isn’t needed anyway, because such “little helpers” often cause more harm than good.

    @hed

    The country variant is German (Switzerland), and I have not corrected/moved the time.

    In my opinion, the Swisscom Assistant makes sense as an official help tool from the provider Swisscom and for easy management of the router.

    (By the way, I’ve since found out that you could change the username, i.e. the display name, in the profile. Because I’m lacking imagination today, I’ll leave it alone…)

    The Swisscom Assistant can make sense for the 0815 customer with no idea…

    The home app is more suitable for managing the router

    ….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

    @hed

    Dear hed, thank you very much for the support.

    I’m not a run-of-the-mill, clueless user of many things on the PC. In certain areas, I appreciate applications that save you from having to learn detailed technical knowledge.

    You write: If the system time is correctly synchronized via NTP server… That’s where I get the 0815 no idea syndrome again. Where would I check this synchronization via NTP server in my Windows 11 system? Settings? Control Panel? I could now google “NTP server”, but maybe it’s quite simple?

    @Chaziosse19

    Then everything is OK on the PC.

    Since Win11 I have noticed that the time on my PC can deviate by up to a minute despite correct synchronization. This may be enough for the error message to appear in the Swisscom Assistant.

    Exactly - it’s also strange that the Swisscom Assistant message doesn’t always appear, but rather every third time when the PC is started. And above all, the message appears when I haven’t activated an internet connection yet - that’s where I would understand it best.

    Then I’ll leave the “problem” as it is because it doesn’t sound like anything serious…

    Normal time, displayed on a minute basis, like the radio clock on my wall.

    Battery: I bought this PC new a week ago. But the old PC had the “problem” with Windows 10 for a few months. I’d rather not have to change the battery just for this annoying problem.

    I would rather uninstall the Swisscom Assistant.

    My suggestion: the Swisscom Assistant could give more detailed information about which time doesn’t suit him.

    So now I have to lay down my head for a few hours…

      I just wanted to quickly explain why the time report thing actually bothers me so much.

      The Swisscom Assistant displays the incomprehensible message in a window that cannot be moved or placed in the background. You can partially view other windows if you look around the Swisscom Assistant window. The Swisscom Assistant wants to tell you: I am important.

      And if you then choose the actions Fix or Close, then nothing happens - there is no confirmation message, nothing. This is poorly designed, poorly programmed. Swisscom Assistant: zero points.

      For my opinion on the assistant, see post #2

      In addition, without an assistant but with some interest in the matter, over time you will achieve a certain level of ICT know-how that everyone should have these days.

      @all

      I’m just dreading the fact that I’m going to have to join the queue on 0800 800 800 and explain EVERYTHING I’ve learned from you so far. Sigh…

      Does the Swisscom customer phone actually not keep track of what’s going on in the community discussions?
