@Anonymous Please do a “reset” of your IB2. It seems as if the pairing on your box did not go through correctly. This is probably still related to the problem from this week. It is there when activating new connections / or new boxes problems arose.

Workaround: Reset the box, or enter the data manually into the router via LAN cable. Basically, the router should retrieve the correct data after the reset.

I did a reset, but without success.

I first had to register again, which was only possible via LAN due to the lack of a WiFi password.

Only then did the brand new IB2 pull the configuration from the Kundencenter.

How do customers who don’t have a LAN device do this?

P.S. The automatic registration previously worked successfully with another IB2.

@Anonymous It was probably precisely at this time that the problem existed throughout Switzerland. Normally this works without any problems. Independent of the IB box.

This week there were numerous problems with all IB boxes where the registration and the initial connection/registration did not work properly.

If there is no LAN-Anschluss, the pairing can also be done by the technical department. Then registration is not necessary. The customer then has to contact us by phone - which is what they usually do.

Ok, good to know. I had the problem today (11/18/2016) at around 4:00 p.m.

At the latest when you have to troubleshoot or want to make a useful speed measurement, you can’t do it without a device with LAN-Anschluss.

A question for the IB2 testers with additional Internet-Booster:

In the last few days, the additional performance of the booster has reduced from a constant 50 MBit to a constant 10 MBit.

I don’t know now, is this a problem with the new IB2 firmware, or has Swisscom actually reduced the power release for the booster by 80%.

Unfortunately, you can’t look up the LTE enable limit anywhere, which makes testing the booster very difficult.

What are your experiences at the moment?

If you are connected to the router with the factory WLAN settings or click around on the router in the WLAN area during pairing, your data for the WLAN may be lost.

I have observed this several times in the field on (IB (+, Standard,light,2)).

Alternative option is if you only have WLAN devices as a connection option as recommended by @SaschaS Quote:

Bonding: is now live. The current offer is that customers with Vivo S and M can use it if they have a copper line with less than 35 Mbps. Then it is filled up to 40 MBit/s. It will stay that way until the summer. Then we will release higher speeds.

This is of course a bit of a stupid thing for you testers, as we also worked at higher speeds in the tests and of course you get used to it. That’s why I asked my team that we create a special solution for the testers so that they can maintain the speed. That doesn’t seem to have worked out that way. I will speak to the employee on Monday to see what the status is. Since I was on the other side of the world last week, I’m unfortunately not up to date on everything. But: I’ll take care of it.

Good morning!

Does this mean that I can now order a booster for my 20 line?

I thought that wasn’t coming until the beginning of next year?

Greetings Marcus

I.e. if you have <35Mbit/s in your checker today and don’t see anything, you have to keep waiting?

What is the maximum achievable speed with bonding, which is released today with Vivo M. If the copper is <35Mbit/s?

Thank you for the information. Now that we know the new target specification, we no longer have to look for supposed new software errors in this topic.

For the future bonding strategy, I would like to include the following user requests:

- Installation of a fail-over function, i.e. it would be great if the LTE part did not switch off at the same time if the copper line failed, but rather maintained the connection. If IP telephony were also released for the LTE part, this could further improve the telephone accessibility of the connection

- Upload boost improvement. In the test I never got over 2 MBit

- Inclusion of TV and telephone in the bonding channel

- Adjust the speed test of the IB2 so that the values are displayed correctly including bonding performance

- Display of the connection-specific boost power approved by Swisscom in the router menu so that the customer can see where the expected target power of his connection including bonding is

Who knows - it’s almost Christmas and maybe one or two wishes will come true in the next development steps of bonding.

Based on my test experience so far, I believe that Swisscom’s bonding idea has created a good and very interesting additional option for many customers to give “lame” copper cables a quick, short-term and cost-effective solution.

Let’s all hope that this idea doesn’t remain in its infancy for too long.

P.S.: I subsequently opened a separate thread for the booster/bonding discussion:

Hello everyone

Internet-Box 2 ordered on Thursday morning from a very friendly call center employee for 99 francs. Already in the mailbox on Friday.

Installed today. Runs smoothly. Web GUI responds much faster than IBP.

Thank you Swisscom:smileyhappy:

LG & have a nice weekend

I can only agree with that… everything is wonderful… the WiFi is significantly faster than with the IB+ and IB Standard.

Central storage with external USB-3 LaCie hard drive also works perfectly, even over VPN.

Technically no problem. We are considering providing a time-limited failover feature. Could come at some point.

- Upload boost improvement. In the test I never got over 2 MBit

This requires a few adjustments to our mobile network. In addition, uploading is technically more difficult. So I don’t know yet when we can do something about it.

- Inclusion of TV and telephone in the bonding channel

Telephone should even work (although I’m not entirely sure). Definitely not TV. That would kill the mobile network.

- Adjust the speed test of the IB2 so that the values are displayed correctly including bonding performance

That’s basically how it should be. But it is an area that still needs to be improved. There are still a few hurdles there.

- Display of the connection-specific boost power approved by Swisscom in the router menu so that the customer can see where the expected target power of his connection including bonding is

This is more of an offer issue. Even today you won’t find the maximum permitted speed of your tariff in the router menu.

The beta firmware 08.01.06 is available for IB2. Likewise for the IB+ and IBS.
