Replace Internet box (purchased at auction from Ricardo)

  • Hello together

    I bought an Internet-Box 3 at Ricardo.

According to the forum, I was supposed to buy from IB:

Perform a hardware reset without the IB being connected to the Internet line.

Register the IB: www.swisscom.ch/start or www.swisscom.ch/access

Now to my question: is the entire configuration that I had before then on the new IB? I don’t have to set anything up again (e.g. new user and password for WLAN etc.?)

    Thanks in advance.

    Greetings

    • Part of the configuration (WLAN name, password, WLAN boxes, DECT telephony, telephone book) is always copied automatically

For the rest of the configuration (advanced network things like static IPs, port forwarding) it is best to set it up again manually, alternatively you can download a backup of the old IB and then import it onto the new one (after you have reset it and activated it with swisscom.ch/start).

It doesn’t matter whether the IB comes from Swisscom or Ricardo, if you buy it via Swisscom you can only save yourself the swisscom.ch/start, otherwise everything is exactly the same

If you have DEC phones you may need to re-register them.

Sometimes the guest WLAN must also be switched on if you have used it before.

It is also advantageous to switch the IB3 off and on again for 10 seconds after about 10-15 minutes if a new firmware has been installed.

      Many thanks NilsL and WalterB.

I’ll definitely make a backup and the phone and guest WLAN won’t be a big deal.

Maybe I can do without my old WLAN access point with the IB3. Maybe the performance will now be enough for the balcony 🙂
