Taking the stress out of calls

Smartphones mean we’re always on call, wherever we are. This is convenient – but it also has certain pitfalls. Use these tricks and features to make calling easier.

1. Nice to hear from you

You can hear facial expressions and gestures. Even without video telephony: your smile is audible. Speaking slowly, clearly and visually helps the person you are calling to understand you.

2. Stay available

Your battery has run out or your line is busy and you are expecting an important call? Set up your COMBOX® or forward your calls to another number (such as your fixed network number, or the number of a friend).

3. Making calls via WLAN

With WiFi Calling, you can make calls over the WLAN network using your smartphone and your own telephone number – even in places where you cannot connect to the mobile network.

4. Block marketing calls

The free Callfilter protects you from unwanted and dubious calls from call centers.

5. Block premium rate numbers

Block 0900 numbers and value-added services to prevent unwanted calling costs.

6. Stay on the move

Go for a walk, practise some stretching or balancing – or even do some foot yoga: exercise keeps you in the swing and livens up the conversation. Bluetooth headphones offer more freedom of movement. And they also make it easier to use your hands.

I can only join @Jourduson. Good preparation is very important to me

- Writing supplies are ready to hand to take notes

- I like to write down certain questions in advance so that nothing is forgotten

- Documents that I will definitely need are also at hand. Here it is of course helpful if you basically have a clean organization and know where I can find which documents if something is still missing. I think nothing is worse than having to look for something for what feels like an eternity.

Yes, that’s a good tip. You can then create shorter spacing and, for example, reduce the font size, which saves space. It’s a bit time-consuming, but better than the usual paper wear.

In my opinion, another point would be appropriate: Before initiating the callback, listen to Combox. I consider it indecent if my call is answered by a Combox, but the owner of this Combox does not listen to my message.

I only make phone calls at home in a quiet environment. When I’m on the move, I only use my smartphone to make calls in emergencies. Incoming calls go to Combox and I answer these calls when I get back home. Not always being available 24/7 is the best form of relaxation.
