@YouDontCare: Downgrads are not wanted for security reasons alone. But about your problem: according to our help pages, have you shared the WiFi networks? Which netting does the problem occur with? With which device? Do the devices have the latest drivers?

It is not so easy to generalize that “downgrades are not wanted for security reasons”; this should only be the case if the box previously had security problems.

Yes, the networks are separate. In both. With different devices (Mac, iPhone, Windows Notebook, Android Smartphone)

It’s certainly not my device’s fault, as the problems only occur immediately after the firmware upgrade.

I’m happy to help and I take every problem seriously. However, statements like “it’s certainly not my device’s fault” are of no use and, in my experience, are 99% wrong. Sorry I have to say this so harshly. 99% of it is due to the devices. We use the latest WLAN drivers from Broadcom so that as many devices as possible are compatible.
As I said, more information is needed: which devices, which software, which drivers. In what situations do the problems arise, etc.

Sorry to say it again, it’s not my devices fault:

A Swisscom technician confirmed this to me on site!

The problem occurs immediately after the firmware upgrade!!!
Ergo, it’s up to the upgrade. (As soon as a router comes with “old” firmware, the problems go away, but it is updated automatically)

Android 5.1.1; MacOS 10.10.3; Windows 7; iPhone 8.3; Linux 64Bit (Archlinux & KaliLinux)

Actually, the problems always occur, at irregular intervals between approx. 5 seconds. up to approx. 3 minutes.

Does it only affect the 2.4 GHz or only the 5 GHz WLAN or both?
Have you already unplugged all devices, then reconnected them one by one and always checked when the problem occurred?

Show original language (German)

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Sorry, I can’t help then. And nothing against the colleagues on site, but they can’t judge something like that in the short time on site.

When we updated the drivers with firmware 6, we saw 1-2 Windows devices with old drivers in tests that were causing problems. Updated drivers under Windows and there were no more problems. And Apple… Well, I’m an Apple user myself and there have been enough problems known since iOS8 and OSX 10.10. In OSC 10.10.4 and also in 10.11 Apple goes back to an old system service and that eliminates the problems.

But now okay. I can’t do anything more.

So again my summary:
1. All of the devices (Mac, Linux, Android, iPhone,…) only don’t work if the InternetBox is used with a 6.XX firmware.
2. The devices all work when I moved them to a different location, used the old router or the old firmware.
This makes it likely to me that it is due to the firmware. Can you understand that?

@Anonymous I contacted Swisscom about the Internet Box restart (see above) and asked that someone from 2nd level support call me back. I believe that the reboots are related to the connected hard drives, especially if they are formatted with HFS+ (Apple) (e.g. for Time Machine backups).

I have the feeling that the reboots are related to the connected hard drives, especially if they are formatted with HFS+ (Apple) (e.g. for Time Machine backups). I also keep getting the message that the AFP server has been shut down or that access has been interrupted (see pictures). Then the AFP share is no longer available on my Mac. The problem is of course that the backups become corrupt due to the constant interruptions.

Screen Shot 1

I’ve tried hard drives of different brands and sizes (WD, Toshiba, etc.) and when they are connected to the IB (only one HDD at a time, partitioned only with HFS+ or HFS+ and NTFS) there are always “random” crashes (maybe when my Mac starts a backup?).
At the weekend I left the box without a hard drive and had no reboots (at least I couldn’t observe this).
I have been using the IB for more than a year and have not had the problems described to this extent, only for a few weeks (after a firmware update of the IB?).

I’m now waiting for the call back and hope that Swisscom will solve the problem soon.

Greeting!

PS: I have already reset the IB, unfortunately without success.

Hello everyone,
Does anyone else have the same problem with Internet Box and VPN access?

- VPN connection via Windows 8 to my local network (from outside) -> no problem, everything works perfectly

- Cancel VPN connection -> ok

- VPN connection via Android to my local network (from outside) -> no problem, everything runs perfectly

- Cancel VPN connection -> ok

- New VPN connection via Windows 8 to my local network (from outside) -> no longer possible

The symptom is always the same and reproducible: every time I establish and close a VPN connection via Androïd, it is no longer possible to establish a VPN connection via Windows 8 (always ok from Androïd). Have to restart the VPN server and then it’s ok again.

Tips, tricks?

Thanks in advance

It almost looks like the VPN connection is not being disconnected cleanly from the Android. And as far as I know, only one simultaneous VPN connection is possible.

This is probably more of a problem for the developers. Since it is reproducible, narrowing it down shouldn’t be too difficult.
I would try to contact 2nd or 3rd level support via HelpDesk 0800 800 800. There it should be possible to remotely query your IB in the event of an error to see what exactly is stuck.

Information:
After installing iOS9, the app ‘internetbox’ from swisscom crashes. No more access to the box. With iOS8.4 everything is still fine…

(sorry, I can’t help myself)

Dear schoolmasters
My post is marked ‘Information’ and that means that the content is pure information. No complaint, no horror, no ‘help what should I do now’. Such information is usually used to communicate something to people who can do something concrete with it. Not more.

…and no, I’m not lost and I’m not sitting on devices that only partially work. My beta devices are used exclusively to check the pre-release versions. The devices for everyday use still run on the current sw version released by Apple.

With the Internet-Box app on my iPhone I can activate “Login via user account” under Options. Which user account does this login refer to?

Thanks
