Hello Swisscom,

Have the other options now been examined? Can non-fiber customers now also purchase the Internet box?

Kind regards

Stephen

As a Fiber customer, you can now buy an Internet box via the hotline. As already mentioned here in the forum, this is a newer version including NAS function than the one that has been sold since November. According to Swisscom, customers who still have an old version will now have it replaced.

The price of the Internet box is probably 299 CHF. I would wait until mid-April, maybe then there will be a way to get the Internet box cheaper. Swisscom regularly makes offers. But I don’t know and therefore all information is, as always, without guarantee.

The Internet box should also come for VDSL copper customers. I don’t know the dates, my gut tells me 2nd half of 14…

Hello everyone, So far I have a Centro Grande, unfortunately it will soon give up the ghost in the WiFi area. That’s why I’ve been researching when a copper cable customer with a Viva 5 * will need one of these. Unfortunately there is no good news from Swisscom. Unfortunately! But patience brings roses, or something like that. I would like Swisscom to deliver my Internet box via copper cable or, even better, that we can also benefit from fiber optic products. I would prefer fiber optic instead of constantly being annoyed with copper cables. So cheers to the new Internet Box.

Has anyone noticed anything wrong with the new box?

  1. NAS (IP…1.44, WesternDigital Duo) suddenly gets a new IP (…1.113) after putting the Internet box into operation. Never occurred in two years so far.
  2. The paired virtual remote control for SwisscomTV via iPad can no longer connect to the set-top box. A new connection via Settop Box/Settings/Connect is necessary. Also never happened before.

1. assign a fixed IP to the NAs? If not, it’s clear. You almost certainly had a Centro that was still using the old DHCP range of 33 to 63. That’s why you always got the 44 and now you don’t. Always set fixed IPs on the device itself.

  1. is completely normal behavior, as has already been said, you should assign the IP manually if you want it fixed.

I can confirm the second point, I also just had to re-pair the iPhone app with the box. However, it could also be because I haven’t used it in ages.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

  1. NAS fixed IP: I’m not entirely sure whether DHCP or fixed IP was set up at the time.

  2. Pairing iPad app: I use it regularly at least every week; and so far this has never happened since installation 1 year ago. Hence the assumption that it is caused by Internetbox.
Conclusion; Potential for improvement at Swisscom: Unpleasant behavior.

“Customer infrastructure may no longer work after Internetbox has been installed, and customers must manually reconfigure their clients/apps.”
Furthermore, the customer is not informed about this in the information flyer.

Hello everyone

Can you configure port forwarding on the new Internet Box (NAT on ports), as was possible with the Centro Grande?

Greetings Patrick

Do you know more details about when the Internet Box will also be available for copper customers and what the price will be? I am very interested in the new Vivo M package but without an Internet Box this is not an option for me.

I would guess CHF 299.00… But I can’t tell you definitively

My gut tells me it’s late. should work in the 2nd half of 2014….

The IB was tested on PCtipp.ch and surprisingly worked without any problems on copper/VDSL - so the release can’t be that far off…

Because you want to get as many customers as possible who already have the infrastructure on glass as quickly as possible? It’s just to be understood as a goodie.

It’s certainly not necessarily “nice” for us copper customers at the moment, but you can never please everyone at the same time…

Greetings, Thomas

Hello

I received my Internet box yesterday and wanted to use it to replace the Centro Grande (fiber optic). Unfortunately, I have my problems. So far, every Swisscom router has been plug-and-play, but it doesn’t work here. I have had fiber optics since January together with the Centro Grande. Now I switched to Swisscom TV 2.0 and got the router as new. The launch date for SCTV 2.0 is tomorrow. I wanted to put the router into operation in advance. So everything is plugged in and turned on as per the instructions. Then it continued as follows:

- Router display: Initial configuration

After waiting 15 minutes, the loading bar got stuck shortly before the end.

- So connected the PC and logged in via www.bluewin.ch as in the instructions. Serial number was nowhere to be found, but after a while I found it in the confirmation email.

- Then logged in with the customer account and a few seconds later everything was “successfully set up”.

- The router display still said “Initial configuration”. Surfing went… Waited 15 minutes and everything restarted.

- Router display again: First time configuration… but this time it took about 10 minutes and it was connected successfully. I was able to access the internet and everything worked. Then the light flashed for 30 minutes, searching for WiFi data.

- I logged into the router and the WiFi was off. So turned it on and I was able to connect my phone. The router display still reported 30 minutes later that it was waiting for data…

- My Gigaset DECT telephone is not recognized. Tried both connections, doesn’t work. No problems at the Centro.

- After a lot of back and forth, he recognized the phone, but the test ring didn’t work and you couldn’t make a call.

- Swisscom TV 1.0 works without any problems.

- Restart the router and enter the language again, connect, etc… thought it would save it…??

- Phone still doesn’t work, WiFi supposedly still needs to search/download data…

- Reset the router, unplug everything, reconfigure. Router display again: Initial configuration… then logged in after about 10 minutes (according to the instructions, max. 5 minutes). Same problem, phone not recognized, WLAN still has to search/download data (but it still works)…

- Installed firmware version: 0/01.23.19/4.2.1-355

No idea what to do. Is this normal and I just have to let it run overnight. Speed test is great. It’s better than with the Centro Grande and apparently my new profile (Vivo L) is already activated: 105 / 20 (Speedtest.net)

The instructions included and this were used here:

http://www.swisscom.ch/content/dam/swisscom/de/res/hilfe/Internet/internetbox/pdf_150dpi_10193496_D_p1-2.pd f

All cables were replaced…
