  • The address of residence is nothing to do with it. The issue is losing data, music, etc. when you change App Stores. If you scroll back through this thread you will see that many, many Swiss companies makes their apps available in international app stores, and even some of the other Swisscom apps are available internationally!!!

I still do not understand why it is so difficult for Swisscom to make this change and serve your customers!

  • Hi @SkyBeam

Thank you for your comprehensive suggestions. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the problem is down to EMI. My Mac in my attic office, and my IB3 is in my living room, 2 floors below. I am using the internal cat-6 wiring in my home to connect the two. Since my original post, I have invested in another USB-C ethernet adaptor from a different vendor (but of course it could be the same device inside), but exactly the same thing happens.

I did some experimentation making Teams video calls over WiFi by moving my laptop to my living room, and it works perfectly. I then tried plugging my Mac directly into the router using Ethernet, and the crash happens again.

My instinct is that that this IS a problem with a specific packet that is only generated over Ethernet, and only generated when Teams is in a video call.

With continued working from home, I needed to find a solution, so I bought another Swisscom WLAN-box, that I now have installed in my attic office to allow me to connect over WiFi. This works reliably, but is only a workaround. I am sure the problem still exists.

  • Microsoft Teams Video call kills Internet-Box 3

    Hi,

I have a strange problem with my Internet-Box 3 and Microsoft Teams. I was wondering if anyone had see any thing similar.

During a Microsoft Teams video call, when connected by Ethernet, my Internet-Box 3 will randomly stop working. The red light is on solid, and all other devices in my house loose their connection to the Internet. The only solution is to power cycle the Internet-Box. If I don’t use video with Teams (i.e. voice only), I have no problem. I don’t appear to have a problem with Teams video calls over WiFi at my house on the same computer. I don’t have a problem with Teams calls on my iPad. And, if I use the same computer and same Ethernet adaptor in my office or with a UPC connection (which I had at my old house) I have no problems.

    My setup is:

    Apple MacBook Pro 2017 <-> Kanex USB-C Ethernet Adaptor <-> Ethernet cable <-> Netgear GS308 switch <-> Swisscom Internet-Box 3

Swisscom have kindly replaced the Internet-Box but unfortunately the problem is still there. I am getting good support from Swisscom but wondered if anyone in the community had a solution?

    Thanks

  • Hi @DomiP, @Black Mamba

I am British, but I live and work in Switzerland. I have a Swisscom iPhone on a Swisscom contract. When I moved to Switzerland from the UK my Apple ID was associated with the UK App Store. All of my music and apps were in the UK App Store and I didn’t want the hassle of migrating everything so I stuck with the UK app store. No big deal.

Migros, Coop, SBB, P+R, Parkingpay, QuickZoll, SwissCovid - all of these apps are only for use in Switzerland, and are available in any App Store. I have all of them and use them regularly. My question was simple - why doesn’t Swisscom make the “My Swisscom” and “Swisscom Home” apps available in all App stores? The Swisscom Storebox, My Cockpit B2B, Swisscom Skimovie, Swisscom RA iOS apps are all available in the UK App Store - why not My Swisscom and Swisscom Home? It is clear that it is possible.

  • hi @UrsSch - thank you for the info - this is helpful.

Pity that Swiscom won’t enable control over CEC from other remotes. I am sure more and more TV manufactures will make their own version of the Samsung One Remote in an attempt to reduce the number of RCs we all have to manage.

I read about the IR workaround. Unfortunately that won’t work for me. With a Samsung The Frame the box with all of the HDMI ports is connected to the TV with a fiber optic cable so that you can hide it away in a cupboard. My Swisscom Box is nowhere near my TV panel. The beauty of the Samsung One Remote is that it uses Bluetooth to communicate with the control box, meaning you don’t have to point the RC anywhere to make it work.

Thanks again for your feedback - guess I better get used to switching between the Swisscom and Samsung remotes!

  • iOS apps on non-Swiss app store

  • I believe that I can only download the Home and My Swisscom apps on the Swiss App Store. Is there any reason for this? I have the SBB, Migros, Coop and countless other local apps on my iPhone (all available in the UK App Store) - why not Swisscom??

    • jbovet likes that.

There’s no point in discussing it with you anyway. I suggest that the issue be escalated further via @ThomasS. He certainly has contact with the relevant agencies.

      Hey there

I talked to the product manager.

He told me that there have been several internal discussions. The legal department has made an analysis last autumn.

Together with the board Swisscom has decided to focus on offering Apps in Switzerland. The costs and legal risks outweigh the value currently.

I hope this answer provides some clarity.

  • Thank you for the link to the comparison of features.

I see that the Swisscom Box has “4K UHD, HDR, Dolby Audio” but there are no details of what is supported on a SmartTV - does anyone know?

    Thanks
    Davy

  • Thank you @UrsSch. Do you know if this is a hardware or software limitation? If software, can this functionality be enabled in a future release?
Is Swisscom collaborating with Samsung to ensure that the IP2000 is fully supported on their TVs? My old UPC box, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV and Polk Audio soundbar are all supported. It is disappointing that this otherwise very impressive box from Swisscom is not supported Samsung (apparently the most popular TV brand in Switzerland).

    Thanks

    Davy

  • @Black Mamba - I was not aware of the SmartTV app. I will try it out later. Do you know what video resolution is supported?
    Davy

  • @Alanz - you are doing the same thing as I am. After several years of using just a single remote it is frustrating to go back to having to use multiple remotes. What I don’t know is if this is a problem with the Samsung TV (I can’t choose the IP2000 box when I set up the Swisscom Box but there are older boxes in the option list), or the Swisscom Box (does it allow control over HDMI CEC from another remote control?).

  • Swisscom Box & Samsung One Remote

  • Hi,

I recently moved from UPC to Swisscom and have set up my new Swisscom Box with my 55″ Samsung Frame (2017). In the past, all of the devices that I connected to my Samsung TV over HDMI (UPC box, Amazon fire stick, DVD player, Apple TV, Polk sound bar) were recognised by the TV and could be controlled by the Samsung One Remote control.

Is anyone using the new Swisscom Box with a Samsung TV with One Remote, and if so, are you able to control it from the One Remote?

The Swisscom remote is working with the TV, but I would prefer to use the One Remote so that I can access the other features on my TV from a single remote.

    Thanks

    • hi @davy3c

Some HDMI-CEC functions are allready in place.

But the HDMI-CEC commands like TV on/off and “TV source selection” are focusing to be used with the remote control from Swisscom 😉

The other way round like you think (HDMI-CEC from the Samsung TV to the Swisscom Box) is not planned to be implemented…

On the other hand Samsung Switzerland has of corse some Swisscom blue TV boxes.

If Samsung has implemented all the IR commands to be able to controll the whole Swisscom blue TV box, I don’t know.

That’s a question for Samsung its up to them if they want to implement all commands or just some of them…

So at the moment if you would like to control the Swisscom blue TV Box from another remote control (IR = infrared) which is not from Swisscom then you need a additional IR-adapter for the Swisscom blue TV Box so that the box can receive the IR commands from other devices like Logitech Harmonie or from a SamsungTV (if Samsung is supporting that).

This IR-adapter is working for both IP1400 and IP2000:
