IB3

  • Can I use the Internet Box 3 (IB3), which a friend no longer needs, as a replacement for my old Internet Box?

Yes, of course. The following procedure:

      1. only connect the IB3 from your friend to the power supply, wait 2 minutes and then reset (there is a small hole in the bottom for this).
      2. If there are still special settings in the current IB, such as self-assigned device names or VPN settings, then create a local backup file. This is under Internetbox & WLAN-Box, save the configuration there and select local.
      3. switch off the old IB, disconnect it from the mains and dispose of it, including the power cable
      4. connect the new IB3 including the new power cable and connect it to the DSL connection (I assume that it is DSL). At the same time, connect a PC/laptop/Mac to the IB3 via LAN cable. Then switch on the IB3 and wait until it flashes red/white.
      5. then enter www.swisscom.ch/start in the browser and follow the registration process. Wait until the LED on the IB3 is constantly lit in white and then connect all other devices. WLAN devices log in again automatically.
      6. if necessary, log into the router menu and restore the previously saved configuration under Internet box & WLAN box. This will result in a restart. Then everything is as before.

If you receive an IB directly from Swisscom, the process is much easier, as the router is then already pre-registered to the user in the system and is then automatically configured when connected to the network. However, the step of backing up and restoring additional configuration data is also necessary there.

      Have fun with the IB3.

resomto should work, you must first perform a hardware reset on the IB3. Press the reset button until the LED starts flashing again.
The IB3 must not be connected to the telephone line when you perform the reset.
