An electrician will have to check this on site and he can then make you an offer. A LAN connection would of course be the most optimal solution

If you currently have a telephone socket in the hobby room, there is a connection between the DSL socket where the router is currently connected and the hobby room.

You can’t currently use it as a LAN because it’s a telephone cable and not an Ethernet cable.

But if you replace the telephone cable with an Ethernet installation cable and replace the sockets, you get a Super LAN connection between the router location and the hobby room, which is stable in the long term and also provides the best possible performance.

Forget all the radio repeater and even worse PowerLine ideas and have an installer put in a LAN cable for you.

The exact connection route and the costs can only be determined precisely on site.

Any reputable electrician should be able to do this - if they have telematics knowledge. But that’s usually the case.

And yes, if you have a LAN connection from top to bottom, you don’t need an additional subscription

Any good electrician can install a LAN cable for you.

If you don’t have an electrician you trust, simply get two offers from installation companies in your region.

You will only need one Internet subscription, because the connection between the apartment and the hobby room will then be a purely internal Ethernet LAN connection, which is connected to the same router in the apartment and does not require a second DSL-Anschluss or a second subscription.

Ultimately, there has to be a LAN connection “somehow” from the router down to the top.

Only if you take a second Anschluss with a second subscription (if it has free terminals/cables). Anything else would cause massive disruption.

Exactly, that’s why the DSL Anschluss is useless in the hobby room. In the past you could make a bridge over the telephone Anschluss and lead it into the hobby room so that you could also make telephone calls from there.

Based on the problem from @YellowOne, this is not about putting the DSL-Anschluss into operation in the hobby room, but about the installation pipe in the hobby room for an additional Ethernet LAN cable as a connection to the router in the apartment to use.

If the hobby room has always been permanently assigned to the apartment, it may well be that the telephone connection in the hobby room is already attached to the apartment as a second socket, but if not, the telephone installation pipes from the apartment and the hobby room will meet in the UP of the house at the latest and then, in addition to the existing telephone cables, you can loop an additional LAN cable from one telephone installation pipe into the other telephone installation pipe.

Of course, you can only judge directly on site which pipes are actually there, whether there is space in them and what the optimal route for the LAN cable is overall.

Normally the telephone pipes are the easiest way to subsequently pull in LAN cables up to a distance of 100 meters, but if it doesn’t work via the telephone pipes, cable TV or electricity pipes can also be used if necessary.

PS: By the way, my own electrician always claims that the room into which he actually cannot bring an additional LAN connection still has to be invented first 🙂

@YellowOne if you want to be prepared for the future, you have to lay fiber optics.

2x media converter and fiber optic cable.
