How many mobile subscriptions with device can there be?

  • Hello

I have 2 subscriptions with new devices. I wanted to make one for my niece as a surprise. Then I wanted to do that. Didn’t work. I have to buy a cell phone for a Betrag. Rates don’t work.

I asked support. 1 subscription starts October 31st. And then it goes again. But why? Why do I have to wait there? There is no outstanding invoice.

    Thanks for help!

    • Short and sweet. You can only have one device on installment purchase per contract. If the contract extension has expired or you pay the remaining amount of the current contract extension, a new installment purchase can be made. However, an extended contract can only be terminated 6 months after its start at the earliest.

If you pay for your new cell phone in installments, your contract will be extended. However, you can benefit again from a promotion or installment payment after just 6 months. If you buy a new cell phone and pay for it again in installments, you will be charged the remaining amount of the first cell phone all at once.

These are now Swisscom’s rules. And to be honest, I understand Swisscom. When purchasing in installments, Swisscom bears the risk. Imagine you could get 2, 3, 4 or even more devices on installment purchase. That would also attract criminals. Or people who can’t handle money.

Because this is how it is regulated at Swisscom and guaranteed at other providers too. Especially if you have several subscriptions and you also pay for smartphones in installments, further new subscriptions and even more new phones in installments are not possible, even if there are no outstanding invoices. You have already been told this in the shop and in support and these statements are correct. However, this regulation is understandable, if only because of the risk of misuse. Then you just have to wait or buy the device yourself straight away… which is usually considerably cheaper anyway.
