Swisscom upgrades TV-Box to the new Android operating system

Dear Community,

Swisscom is offering an Android12 update for customers with Swisscom Box 21 (IP1800) or a Swisscom Box (IP2000). Nothing is planned for the old TV-Box (UHD).

To find out more about the TV update, new functions and the blueTV update procedure, go to: [www.swisscom.ch/tv-update](http://www.swisscom. ch/tv-update)

Do you have questions about the update? Post a comment. The Community will be happy to help you.

good idea in terms of extending functionality.

However, since we are talking about Google, some nice links so as not to forget that the Web is not just about this company:

- a somewhat Swiss list: www.vhs-to-dvd.ch/alter_g.htm

- a well-stocked cooperative directory: www.alternativeto.net

and, especially for Chrome browser users:

- an instructive comic strip: contrachrome.com/comic/681/

- also think that the hegemony of the Blink HTML rendering engine becomes somewhat of a security concern, because when an issue is discovered within Chromium, it also affects Microsoft Edge, Opera and Brave.

- prefer the little panda: www.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/ or Safari on macOS.

Hello, I just received an email telling me that an update will be required from September 16th. In particular it is written:

To complete the update, acceptance of Google’s contractual terms is required. By continuing to use blue TV, you agree to the Special Conditions of Swisscom blue TV.

I object to this update because I do not wish to accept Google’s contractual conditions. Please let me know how to proceed so as not to have this update.

Good morning,

I refuse to update my TV box.

If you update without my consent, I retain the right to terminate our contract without notice. I have never used google in my life on any of my devices, and today I’m not going to start.

You’re already doing Wokism, you address me as if I were YOUR friend (you don’t like “YOUR friend”), and you have become followers of the USA. Remember the famous phrase of Henry Kissinger: “To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal.” You have chosen fatalism and you seek to drag us into your submission, into your sudden death like Credit Suisse, like European industry, like the European peoples altogether.

Leave my family alone!

@Anonym Hi

First of all, everyone speaks informally on the forums. As far as Google is concerned, you are wrong, because all boxes have had the Google system for many years. What’s new is the Google store for additional applications in addition to those provided by Swisscom. You don’t have to register with the Google Store. If your goal is to terminate your contract because of Google and look elsewhere, be aware that other operators’ boxes are also provided with Google’s OS.

Cordialement Doremi

Hello, I have two boxes at home, an IP1800 and an IP1400, will the update be done on both boxes? Or should I ask Swisscom to change the oldest one?

@Zuwozi29 One has nothing to do with the other, the update that is now arriving on TV Box 21 is no different from the one that has already existed for almost a year On TV Box 5, the subscriptions themselves do not depend on the box used, so there will certainly be no price change following this update. This is simply an adaptation of the most recent boxes. BLuewin Mail and its decoupling from the Internet subscription have nothing to do with it.

Swisscom does not offer anything in this case, Swisscom imposes, it’s not the same.

Forcing acceptance of the Google T&Cs is rather limiting and comes on top of other unwanted changes such as the change in the minimum TV offer from 5.- to 14.90 under the pretext of improving service.

It would be nice if this update was optional or if Swisscom offered a basic box without all these unnecessary functions for many customers.
