New Enterprise Mobile subscriptions with data throttling domestically

  • The new Enterprise Mobile for SMEs were presented today.

    Swisscom [begins with data throttling domestically](https://www.swisscom.ch/de/business/kmu/mobile/enterprise-mobile/abo-vergleich/enterprise-mobile-europe.html#acc-C8h98w%5Bselected% 5D%5B%5D=1), starting from 60 GB per month.

    I think that times will be slightly different now, including for private customers. I can hardly imagine that the throttling will not be extended to products from private customers. Gone are the days when private users replace their landline internet connections with an additional SIM with a 5G router. 😁

    I find it understandable that Swisscom wants to prevent their mobile subscriptions from being used for other purposes (in a 5G router), but I think that’s a bit exaggerated

    There are definitely months in which I need over 60 GB of data if I often work on my laptop on the train (on customer servers via RDP) and/or have Teams conferences on the go

    But in my opinion this is definitely going in the wrong direction. Data volumes continue to increase month after month, also thanks to 5G. It really doesn’t make any sense today to reduce the volume again, as it did before, unless someone overdoes it massively. After all, you can buy a data package from 60GB and continue surfing. Problem solved. In other words: price increase!

    A fairly hidden price increase. Instead of charging for the multi-devices or the speed option separately, the amount of data is now simply limited hidden in the small print.

    Both links still work for me:

    Here are the prices for domestic data packages from 60GB. In my opinion way too expensive!!! It must also be noted that domestic calls are limited to a maximum of 10,000 minutes and calls abroad or abroad are limited to a maximum of 2,500 minutes per month. I find it very questionable to describe it as “everything unlimited”. I really hope that something like this isn’t introduced for private customer subscriptions, but I suspect something bad.

    @Samsi That’s cruel

    I have a “Enterprise Mobile Europe advanced” subscription from the company where I work, but I’ve had it for over a month now

    Is this subscription now also affected by the restrictions (60 GB)? In the cockpit I don’t see anything yet that I somehow have the option to buy data packages for Switzerland and under “Data” it only says how much data I have used, not how much I still have left

    I’m a bit confused because the subscription has exactly the same name as the “new” subscriptions that were just introduced today. I didn’t take out the subscription myself and therefore don’t have the contract to check it out. I currently only have access via the cockpit

    @NilsL

    I really can’t tell you whether this also applies to your subscription if it was already taken out beforehand. I would ask the business hotline what that looks like.

    Show original language (German)

    @Samsi I’ll probably find out soon, I’ve already let over 40 GB through this month because I needed my hotspot for a customer on Friday because it was about 8 times faster than the 100 Mbit/s line

    When the subscription was taken out, the 60 GB was definitely not the case (or was overlooked when ordering)

    Show original language (German)

    @Samsi When I think about it, I make sure that I use everything up at the end of the month if possible and if I reach it before then, good (or bad, depending on whether it really is that slow, with 0.5 mbit/ s I definitely can’t work)

    Wow. These prices are an absolute disgrace and far removed from any reality in the current market environment. The fight is particularly tough in the SME and enterprise segment. I don’t know what Swisscom is trying to do. Salami tactics to gradually convert “unlimited” to “throttled”? Then with prices like those at the best PTT times? Disaster.

    The new conditions are really massively customer-unfriendly.

    If I still had a Mobile Enterprise subscription, I would just jump across the Rhine and ask for mobile asylum in Liechtenstein.

    You can now port any existing Swiss mobile number at any time to FL1 (Telekom Liechtenstein), which is 100% owned by the FL state, defines CH and FL as one mobile zone, but is also different from the CH providers due to EEA reasons still has the EU internal roaming rules.

    In FL/CH, 200 GB of data volume with 300 Mbit/sec is already included for just under CHF 40/month and to avoid the throttling to 256 Kb/sec that then begins, you can get another 100 GB for CHF 20/month.

    In comparison, Swisscom now throttles much earlier (at least in the business segment) and charges CHF 120/month for an additional 80 GB.

    Why Swisscom wants to sell additional GB volumes on its own network for more than 6 times more expensive than if you buy it indirectly through your FL neighbor as a reseller is currently completely unclear to me.

    I’m sure that you can’t do that with large customers anyway, but in order to maximize profits, is it possible to simply rely on the possible laziness of SME companies to switch?

    In my personal opinion, however, you should never really underestimate SMEs, because in some cases it’s directly about the owner’s cash register and I currently see a new trend that has good mobile growth potential for our Liechtenstein neighbors and also some other providers.

    @Werner Which partner network does FL1 use in Switzerland? If Swisscom private subscriptions and Wingo also follow this and FL1 uses Swisscom; Why not

    By the way, at Sunrise and Salt there are still real flat rates (also in the business sector), at Salt even the 12.95 Fr. per month GoMo 5G subscription has unlimited data (and the GoMo, which can no longer be ordered for 9.95 Fr. per month, has 100 GB up to the throttling also 0.5 Mbit/s), so the cheapest Salt subscription is better than the most expensive Swisscom Business subscription, it can not be!!

    Telecom Liechtenstein currently has, which seems reasonable to me, all 3 CH mobile providers, i.e. Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt as roaming partners, all including a 5G network.

    So far, I don’t have an FL1 subscription myself, so unfortunately I can’t share my own practical experience with it here.

    In any case, the FL1 conditions sound fair and attractive in the product descriptions and the new possibility of porting Swiss +41 numbers naturally makes their products even more attractive for us Swiss.

    In any case, I will certainly keep FL1 on the Swiss “competition radar” in the medium term as a special case 🙂

    When I look at what I pay for the Enterprise subscription, the alternatives are more expensive. Especially because I can usually get there with the 60 GB. I’ll check a bit to make sure I can connect to the WiFi and that’s fine.

    Exactly but that would be my problem. If I have unlimited, I want and expect that too. Regularly switching to WiFi to save data is not a flat rate for me. Such affordable flat rates have been around for several years. This cannot be the new future from 2024 onwards, where the term unlimited will be massively throttled again and you will have to buy data packages for very expensive money. We all also need more and more data. This is definitely going in the wrong direction.
