New House Internet Speed Copper + Nokia Internet Booster 5G

Hello all, I am considering moving to a new address.

I was on the phone with Swisscom they stated copper will be 225/50 dw/up and can reach 300/100 dw/up with Internet Booster.

I am trying to understand if this is "an actual" figure, I work with internet, the upload speed is crucial to me and I need a minimum of 50, not less, anybody has any experience with the internet booster? I see the area is covered by 5g fast but I want to make sure before I move there, thanks.

additionally, how is the bw aggregated? will it be load balancing between the two connections? copper/5G? is it automatically aggregating the throughput? is it using one or the other? is it using both in parallel and therefore aggregation? if it is aggregation, what protocol is used here?

The values are indicative. It could be better, it could be worse.

In theory it's aggregation using Multipath TCP:

In practice you'll rarely see doubling of the speed, but it's usually an improvement nevertheless.

I hope so...... I went to the house the other day, tested using speedtest and got 90/32 which means that not really sure how much will get assuming the devices will actually aggregate throughput... but like you said.... better than nothing. the issue is tho.... what about latency, as far as i know, the latency will be calculated with the average one, if both links have 1ms and 30ms, the max value will be taken in consideration and average based on the max value will be applied to the connection.... thing is, I don't have any other option.... sunrise is using swisscom so.... I know for sure the routing will require additional hops to get out to internet compared to swisscom so.... no much choice.

There is a small latency penalty to pay so It's probably not for a pro-gamer.

Im not a pro gamer 🙂 i play some games on consoles and pc (WoW) but not looking to be e-athlete, what it's important for me is being able to join calls with 20-30 ppl all using video and being able to work 🙂 fingers x 😉 thanks again
