Live TV and watching recorded programs on channels that require advertising is not possible

I use Blue TV with an Edge browser and Windows 10. As of this morning, I can neither watch these channels live nor recorded. It works on another PC with Firefox and Windows 10. I have already tried all measures such as restarting the browser, clearing the cache, etc. Does anyone have the same problem or has an idea?

@waegi It could possibly be a DRM problem in the Edge browser.

Try this:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge on your computer.
  2. Type edge://settings/content/protectedContent in the search bar at the top and press ENTER.
  3. Enable Allow websites to play protected content (recommended).

Have you already tested with another browser?

Are BIOS and drivers up to date?

Are you using an external monitor?

As @roku73 already suspected, the DRM/HDCP copy protection could be activated, i.e. if the entire playback chain does not support this, protected content can no longer be played.

It doesn’t help much if you have FireFox installed on the other laptop that works, you have to try FireFox on the device that doesn’t work too. And if you don’t want to install anything additional, you can also test with a portable version of FireFox.

You can find more information about DRM/HDCP here:

The question was whether I tested with another browser: yes, I did, with Firefox and I had no problems there. So the problem can be narrowed down to the edge. Unfortunately, I don’t have anyone on hand who also has an Edge. I’ll stay on the ball.

Yes - on another PC (laptop) with Firefox. All components have the current version. Thanks for the tip.

It doesn’t help if you test with a different browser on another device that works. You have to test with a different browser on the device where the problem exists.

I see that no solution has been marked in this thread yet. @waegi, did you solve your problem with one of the posts? Tell us more. By additionally marking the corresponding solution, you can help future users who have the same question. Kind regards, Raphael

In my opinion, the solution has not been found - I always wait a bit before accepting a solution, as I know from my IT experience (personal and professional) that the problem may recur after some time. This morning I cannot watch live TV via the browser (Edge, W11) on all channels that require advertising. It worked again in between - this morning there is a black screen again and an excuse that the program cannot be played (unfortunately it doesn’t help me much). Restarted everything, cleared cache, etc. - nothing helped.

Today (11/10/2022) the identical problem. Too bad.

Hello @waegi

Please try the following:

  1. Enter edge://flags/ in the search bar
  2. Search for Widevine - make sure default or enabled is selected on the right
  3. Search for Playready - make sure default or enabled is selected on the right

Greetings Samuel

Have you already tried with another browser? I also generally use the Edge, but I always had very different problems with it in connection with TV-Air and other video streams.

Since I started using Chrome for TV Air and other video streams, I have had zero problems.
