Advertising on Replay on blue TV from October 4, 2022

  • Dear community,

Replay has reshuffled the cards on the television market. Today, commercial breaks are almost systematically skipped, which causes financial losses for television channels. To be able to maintain Replay, the players in the television sector have agreed on a new common rate (TC12) and on new advertising formats for delayed viewing (advertising on Replay).

    Advertising on Replay from October

All national and regional TV broadcasters, such as Swisscom or Sunrise, will have to implement this new agreement by October 4, 2022. Initially, advertising on Replay will only concern 19 TV channels.

Initially, you will only see the advertising with a TV-Box de Swisscom, then from mid-November on all devices (smartphone, tablet, computer, laptop, Smart TV).

    Avoid advertising on Replay

For optimal viewing comfort on blue TV, Swisscom will offer the option Replay Comfort at CHF 6.90/month for blue TV M, L and X. This will allow you to enjoy Replay without advertising on the 19 TV channels. You’ll still be able to skip advertising on recordings and TV Replay, and even skip advertising blocks on up to 80 additional channels, all with a single click.

Don’t want to bother going forward/backward and being able to watch your movies and TV shows without interruption? With blue Play, you can watch content from famous media libraries for free and without advertising.

For any questions or comments regarding the new advertising on Replay, leave us a comment. We will be happy to chat with you!

      Bonjour

Non que vous disposiez d’une Box TV ou de 3 ou 4 un seul tarif s’applique.

      Cordialement Doremi

The planned implementation is equivalent to increasing all subscriptions by 6.90 as this advertising will become invasive. A publicity stunt every time we move forward and it is impossible to pause the image to observe in detail the last goal that goes into the net as the image will be covered by advertising.

Start of a show with 7 seconds of advertising + the show’s ad (as it always starts before the ad) or 130s of ad if you try to skip the show’s ad.

If I read correctly, this advertisement does not currently concern French-speaking channels, right? Are French-speaking channels planned to be added to the list? And if so, do we have any idea when this is expected?

Only 5, 6 seconds like Youtube?
Given the price of subscriptions, out of the question! I have always supported Swisscom but given the price of subscriptions, not normal. So much the better, we’ll watch less TV. No more books, cards or video games outside.
Ads, we look away or they influence only ⅓ of the people, the same ones who are influenced by the parties for votes, vaccines etc…
We already know what we want or like in terms of brands or products; on the contrary, those that bore us we avoid!
Sign the initiative for Serafe at 200 CHF it will happen this time we will make up for it that way.

My personal opinion compared to the competition before I read it I’ll go elsewhere 😉

At Salt it’s all or nothing, no Replay with advertising. Concerning Zattoo, the Premium version keeps the 7 days of Replay with advertising, for without advertising it will be necessary to move to Ultimate without increase for the moment, but given the launch date of Ultimate, we can ask ourselves the question if the integration of the new Replay was designed to do a little marketing stunt when the day comes and say no increase for us

Finally Sunrise same system as Swisscom but at 7.90.- per month, i.e. 1 fr more than Swisscom.

At Swisscom (and its direct competitor), we still have the choice of having one between 2 with advertising and that the Replay does not disappear for those who do not want to pay

I would add to Lapinou’s comment that if the statement “precisely ignore advertising blocks on up to 80 additional channels, all with a single click” is true and works correctly, it has some value!

Oh yes, already signed the 200 francs initiative. Already Billag should have jumped, a way of making up for it. Their 2-buck ads (well no more) we don’t watch them we skip or we look elsewhere, at worst it annoys and we remember them so as not to buy this.

Will it be max 5 seconds like Youtube or an extended scam?

By the way, Swisscom could take advantage of the precise identification of advertising periods to automatically lower the sound level by 30% to 50% to counterbalance the effect of dynamic compression which literally makes our ears explode. Each time you have to jump on the remote control to reduce the sound so as not to go deaf!

    @JoelV

    regrettable decision 😠

advertising has unfortunately invaded all media spaces for a long time

but who still watches these advertising spaces? seriously!

municipalities are starting to ban advertisements in public spaces

great initiative 😀 which goes completely opposite to the paths taken by all the media

the paid view of non-advertising must be compensated by attractive features

For me, this tax would be justified if it allowed you to skip ALL ads, even when watching live! This would be real added value. But now the channels are laughing at us! However, I appreciate seeing that it is not Swisscom which is charging the most for this change.

How to do it? During live broadcasts, one click into the future, skip half an hour of football? We should perhaps first understand how private television works, the channels live on advertising revenue, that is to say that in the absence of advertising revenue or compensation, there are no channels private, that’s how it is. If we don’t watch private channels, which is normal, we don’t need to pay the 6.90 CHF, but if we care about these channels, we should accept that they only exist because they broadcast advertising.

I know very well that what I am proposing is unrealistic! But this tax is a joke! Since TV has been recordable, people have skipped advertising! What we need is for TV to adapt to current ways of consuming! Here the tax would allow access to channels without advertising like streaming players!

For me, the system should be reviewed so that a channel which receives the license fee cannot benefit from advertising on its Replay.

And vice versa, a Swiss channel (with a minimum of specifications) which renounces advertising on its Replay may have more royalties.

    Show original language (French)

@Lapinou I’m not talking about the channels that receive money from the license fee, I agree with you. Of the 19 current channels, none receives Swiss royalties from Serafe, and even fewer German channels.

    @Grenouille

This doesn’t change the fact that the channels have to finance themselves, and so do streaming, they don’t do that for free. So look at the development of DAZN in Germany, prices have suddenly doubled. Those who do not want private television can waive it, the 6.90 CHF is optional, it is not automatically added. Moreover, it is possible to skip advertising if you schedule the recording of a program in advance, as in the past with the VCR, and watch the program later.
