Internet-Booster 5G: Speed prüfen, bestellen und schneller surfen

You take an RJ45 cable from the booster to the Swisscom router anyway… so we would have a maximum length of around 100M… so you should easily be able to place the booster somewhere.

ideally on a flagpole 🙂

@xtreme

According to information from the technology, it should work if the switch uses VLAN 699 and 700 for communication between IB and 5G Booster.

But I only tried it with WLAN-Box 2 myself.

Actually everything is at factory settings. (Switch purchased via Swisscom). Haven’t changed anything.

Just had to replace the switch because one port was defective 😞

I have the Internet Box 2, which is relatively thick, not the newest 3. On the balcony I have real 5G reception with around 400 Mbit/s download from Glarus Bergli. The very good antennas should also offer me reception of real 5G on the inside of the window

An inquiry to Swisscom revealed that the booster must be connected directly to the router. When I read the comments here, it sometimes sounds as if this can also be installed on a switch in the network. The router is in my basement, I have a switch by the window.

It can also be done via a switch, but VLAN ID 699 and 700 must be tagged. If it is a smart managed switch, you can set that.

The switches from Swisscom (TP-Link) are already programmed accordingly.

A run-of-the-mill switch from the electronics store usually can’t do it

Thanks for the tips. Then it will be like Swisscom TV. This doesn’t work with all switches either. Netgear works for me on Swiccom TV. I’ll try that.

The Netgear Switch GS105E is afaik not configured for the 5G Booster. Since it is a smart managed switch, you can program the VLAN ID 699 and 700 accordingly.
