Pair Centro Business and WLAN-Box?

Good morning everyone,

I replaced the Internet box 2 at home with a Centro Business 2. Two weeks ago I bought the WLAN-Box to strengthen the WLAN.

My questions:

1. Which box would you choose “Quality, Speed, Reliability” (IB2 or CB2)?

2. Is there a way to pair the WLAN-Box with the CB2 (I have Ethernet on WLAN-Box) to extend the WLAN range?

3 Is there a recommended third-party access point to expand my WLAN?

The IB2 is significantly more modern than the CB2. Newer WLAN standard and more options in the area of telephony.

The WB does not work with the CB. It is designed for the IBS, IBP and especially the IB2.

I have a well-known opinion about third-party routers and other access points. But there are 2-3 people here who will recommend everything to you. It’s up to you.

What was the exact reason that you exchanged the IB2 for the Centro Business 2? I did the opposite myself with a semi-private community at two locations and they are very happy with the IB2.

If it really has to be the CB2.0 - for whatever reason, then it also has to be a third-party AP.

The only things we can recommend here are the Unifi APs from Ubiquiti. Price/performance ratio absolutely top.

Various people here will confirm this to you.

If it doesn’t really have to be the CB2.0, then the IB2 / WB combination is the measure of things. Both in terms of performance and price and in terms of simplicity anyway.

But you could also use the Unifi APs here, it just takes a little more manual work to set up…

Another advantage would be that the Unifi APs would survive a change of provider 😉

Hello everyone, first of all thank you very much for the answer.

The reason for (tentatively) switching to CB2 is as follows:

Until now I have had a FritzBox 7590 at home behind a TP-Link MC220L media converter. From home to company I had a VPN that connected my networks from FritzBox company (behind CB2 with PPPoE) to FritzBox home (192.168.1.xxx to 192.168.2.xxx). Since the WLAN at home worked better with the IB2 including WLAN-Box, I wanted to switch to the IB2 as soon as possible. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a VPN Fritzbox-Fritzbox anymore. After talking to Swisscom, a CB2 was sent to me (as a trial) because I can set PPPoE passthrough here again.

Long reason, short story. I need a solution that allows me to make a nightly backup of company data on my home server. It is also necessary that I can easily access the other network from one location. (Browser enters IP address of the other network)

Do you have a fixed IP where you are trying to put the cbv2?

Because without this keio pppoe passesrough…

The best and safest solution: buy 2 sonicwalls, especially since it is still a business location

So ultimately you want better WiFi at home and maintain your side to side VPN…

The wrong approach is to get an IB2 that doesn’t have a side-to-side VPN, but has good WiFi.

Furthermore, it is wrong to buy a WLAN box that only works with the IB, since the IB is no longer applicable due to the lack of side-to-side VPN functionality (and please do not suggest cascade solutions with different subnets at this time)

It is also wrong to order a Centro Business Router from a private customer product.

A possible correct solution would have been. Keep the Fritz boxes with the side to side VPN and build a WiFi system that makes you happy. Klicki Klicki solutions from AVM itself or Klicki Bunit solutions from Unifi are actually ideal.

Hello everyone,

I have now used the above solution.

Side to side connection between 2x Fritzbox (company behind CB2 with PPPoE) (home directly FB7590 behind media converter)

Then for WLAN in the home, 2x UniFi AP-AC Pro.

Everything is running now, at great speed.
