Problem with sound difference between channels and depending on the selected source.

  • Good morning

Depending on the channel selected, and also depending on the source selected, I have a very very different sound.

I would like this to be more consistent between the channels, have you ever encountered this problem?

    Thanks in advance

    • Hello simmata,

A difference in sound between certain channels is indeed noted on our different Swisscom TV platforms. This mainly happens on HD channels. We are actively working with different specialists to harmonize the volume across all programs. Improvements will be made as soon as possible, we thank you for your patience.

    Good morning,

I connected my swisscomTV Box 2.0 directly via HDMI to my Samsung television. Nothing fancy in my installation and no amp.

Since our arrival on STV 2.0 we have encountered sound stability problems. That is to say that moving from one channel to another the volume of the sound changes greatly. Additionally, even when staying on the same channel, the volume varies somewhat. The kind of variation that is disturbing in the evening or when the kids watch TV at low volume in the morning.

Finally, if we fix the volume of the TV and change the volume only on the Box, the variation is only from 1 to 5 (Each notch greatly increases the sound), then from 5 to around 10 ( little sound change). All the other sound notches are useless. I should point out that during this manipulation, the TV volume is set to an average value.

Have you also encountered this kind of problem?

And above all, is there anything to fix this?

Otherwise everything works with STV 2.0. We are happy 🙂

    A++

    Good morning,

I’ve had the exact same problem for 2 weeks.

The sound has completely changed, it was set to a medium setting on the TV and 5 on the box… and since then, I have had to increase all these settings.

the quality has dropped significantly. There are variations in sound during vision. That is, the sound decreases and increases while watching a film or program, regardless of the channel.

It’s quite annoying in the long run.

I checked all the settings on the TV and the box, no surround on either. A technician came in October for another problem and changed: the box, the remote control and the HDMI cable. There was no problem until the beginning of December.

    What to do?

    THANKS.

Do you also have a big difference in the sound level between the RTS channels and the others? When I switch from RTS to another channel I have to significantly reduce/increase the volume…

    THANKS

    Good morning,

Yes, indeed, depending on the channels, the sound is higher or lower. I have had several calls with swisscom, they cannot resolve this at the moment but the problem is known.

They gave me the explanation that the sound was modified to be better compatible with headsets.

Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the sound on the TV and play with the sound level of the box with an essential condition for proper operation… the sound level of the box must always be higher than the level of the box. TV sound… so I have the TV on 20 and the box on 40-45.

Since these settings, things have improved but I find that the quality in general is significantly lower than before.

    Good morning,

When does Swisscom plan to resolve the sound volume problem on certain channels (Canal+ HD for me)? This problem has been known for months, and still nothing.

    Best regards,

    Thomas.

Some channels have an average volume significantly higher than others, this is particularly the case for the MTV channel series. This requires you to juggle the remote control each time. I don’t understand why this problem still exists, it’s obvious and has nothing to do with the quality of the connection. Do you have sound technicians on site to look at volume weighting?

Indeed, the sound is much louder when you arrive on the MTV UK channels, however it is correct on the Sky music channels (Bliss, Heart, Clubland etc.) and the Tropical channels

Indeed, the problem appears especially on MTV UK, and more generally on music channels. A little leveling wouldn’t hurt, it shouldn’t be very complicated to output the average volume on digital and readjust it by channel…. But maybe I’m asking too much from Swisscom. There are plenty of billing engineers, sound engineers much less so…

Still the same problem and this time between TF1 (very very weak…) and the rest of the channels. It’s just unbearable… As a situation and to see that Swisscom is doing nothing to resolve this problem!!!

    Good morning,

I noticed that the sound of Swiss TV (French-speaking Switzerland) is bad.

I would say it is not clear. It is mushy and weak.

On a technical level, it is normal to want HIFI

As an audio video technician, it is difficult to accept such poor quality.

    Please. Do something!

                                                                                           JPG

    Hello jp,

There is currently no disruption to French-speaking Swiss TV channels. Have you tried to reset your TV-Box to correct this error? If this is not the case, give it a try and let us know because we will contact you directly to help you if it does not work.

    Madam, Sir,

    Good morning!

Most Swisscom TV 2.0 users will be satisfied with the current sound on the TSR,

But currently I can receive Swisscom TV2 and Cablecom.

In short, the difference is clear.

As an Audio-Video technician I can tell you that if I were in your place, I would not be satisfied

of current quality which does not correspond to legendary Swiss quality.

When I watch Swiss TV, I tune into Cablecom.

For me, foreign TV is (satisfactory).

    Greetings.

                                                                                    JP. Grandchamp

It should be noted that we can standardize the sound between the channels.

Simply set the Sound setting Auto volume: to YES (SONY TV)

For other TVs I think this is also possible.

    A+

    Hello JP

    Did you read YariB’s answer?

For me, even if there is some difference in sound (volume) between the SD and HD channels, the TSR is of very good quality. No difference in sound quality between TSR and TF1.

    Show original language (French)

I think these issues may vary by region,
And the sensitivity of our ears, more or less good.
We are also more or less demanding.
I am simply giving my specialist opinion.

    Show original language (French)

For me the sound and image quality on the channels that Swisscom downgrades the HD signal to SD (without offering the channel in HD quality) is a real disaster

The following channels are affected: Boomerang, Boing, RFM TV, Extreme Sports, Comédie+, Infosport+, Tiji, MCM Top and to a lesser extent Mangas
