Wi-Fi goes into high gear
I just read the following article on the Bluewin page.
Could your Wi-Fi speed be your worst nightmare? If so, rejoice already because a team from Stanford University has managed to double the speed of data transfer.
Your current Wi-Fi device has two antennas. To obtain a considerable improvement in connection speed, the Stanford team set up a device made up of three antennas. It thus makes it possible to receive and send data thanks to a full-duplex connection established on the same frequency. This device gives your connection increased speed!
Not so long ago, we thought this was impossible to achieve. We had to wait for a demonstration by the team of Stanford researchers during MobiCom 2010 to realize that it works… They received the Best Demo prize for this. However, the popular science magazine “Spectics” claimed that this device could not give the same results in a real context; However, no one has found fault since this demonstration, carried out last year at MobiCom.
We can now ask ourselves the question… When will the higher speed be implemented for Swisscom subscribers?
