Hello @Nukahei61

Yes, copper remains online until you have completely completed the technology change.

For me, I triggered the technology change in the shop. The nice employee then offered me a contract extension with a promotion for 6 months. That was a good 70.00 discount for 6 months. And since I still had the old IB Plus, there was also an IB4 for free.

OK thanks.

I haven’t even bothered with the contractual thing yet.

At that time we had signed a contract for 24 months, so maybe 18 of them have been completed now.

Fiber is normally already “switched” to the FAN (Fibre Access Node) in the control center. It’s already ready here.

Material will be shipped after the OTO can is built and acknowledged by the technician. It’s a little different if there is no OTO yet. Since the techie comes over in the morning, the package for the IB3 should be there the next day.

Copper remains active on glass for 30 days after migration.

so, fiber optic is in operation. Thank you all.

The installation went reasonably well yesterday (just took a lot longer than expected) and it’s been working since today.

Unfortunately it didn’t work as automatically as I had hoped. I was on the phone with the hotline for about 30 minutes, but they were able to help me well.

I’m a bit “disappointed” about the speed. It was completely ok with 1Gbit and that’s completely enough, but I increased it to “L” and then thought that at least on the speed test in the router some crazy number like 8000 or 9000 or something like that would light up, but that’s not the case. Exactly 1Gbit and not a bit more. Even on the “fastest” PC, i.e. with a 2.5 cable, it shows exactly “only” 1Gbit down and up. I’m aware that I won’t have 10Gbit in the real world, but I was happy about a crazy number, but unfortunately there was nothing there. But maybe there is only “L” in the Kundencenter but no L profile is activated, I have no idea. Or it takes longer than the few minutes you meant.

The only thing I have to look at now is my WLAN boxes. It shows me in Kundencenter that only 2 are connected via cable, but there should be at least three (I’m not sure whether there is a fourth in the daughter’s room or not). But they all light up white, but only two are shown as wired in the app. I guess I’ll have to figure out which one isn’t working as it should.

But basically I’m happy that it’s working

Hello @Nukahei61

What color is your fiber optic connector?
Red or blue.

With red it should be 10 GB, with a blue plug only 1 GB is possible, so the control center has to change it over and send you a new fiber optic cable.

Greetings Lorenz

that should be red (i.e. the one in the internet box). On the other end it was green I think.

But I would have to look again later to be able to say for sure

Yes, she wanted to update. But it looks like the IB4 was turned off during the update. From my point of view it doesn’t run correctly, that’s why only the “deep” bandwidth. Everyone else with 10G in your neighborhood can reach 8gbps.

I would first switch the IB4 off/on. Let’s see if she recovers.

If the speeds are still not in the 8gbps range, then reset the IB4 completely.

Personally, I would have kept the IB3 and used the SFP, the router ran without any problems.

That was basically the idea, then yesterday we had a doctor’s visit with my son and there were long waiting times, then I went to the shop opposite and asked what the contract was and he said if I updated to L, then that would be the case 6 months cheaper and IB4 for free and Disney and co. and then I just did that.

(And the technician in the morning also said that based on his experience he would prefer the IB4 to the update kit)

You let yourself be “seduced” by the seller, which IMHO wouldn’t have done that. There was no technical one. Reason right? Typical marketing or sales tactics either on the phone or in the shop. Have you read the “fine print”? Not that you have to pay extra after 6 months. No matter now, hope that your IB4 can meet your expectations (soon).

yes, after a restart it looks much better now. I could have figured it out on my own, but thanks.

That’s me, vulnerable to marketing. But I went to the shop on my own initiative to ask what the contract was. If I want to stay with Swisscom anyway, I don’t think that’s a bad idea. And as much as I sometimes criticize Swisscom, I am aware that others are even worse.

Above all, the support (and here too the community) has always been top at SC. And at our new place of residence we have now switched back to SC (or Wingo) because the competition here had noticeably worse connections.
