I don’t want Google on my TV. I have a smartphone and a tower for internet. I installed Google there. That’s enough.

As already written:

The TV-Box runs Android TV (before and now in a new version).

This is and has been from Google before.

But:

As a first step, you have to agree to the terms of use again (this is anonymous and doesn’t hurt) - if you don’t do this, you can no longer use the TV-Box

If you can then voluntarily enter your existing Google account (the same as on your cell phone) in a second step, then you can also install apps on the TV. If you don’t want that, that’s OK too. BlueTV also works without a Google account

The remote control update has been running for over 30 minutes and the bar is at a third… Is it supposed to take that long?

This is definitely variety long. I thought it would take a minute or less.

Important: Be sure to place the remote control close to the box. If I remember correctly, a maximum distance of 30 cm.

Hi @Pleikiontauf35

Your TV will inform you as soon as the time comes and guide you through the process step by step. Simply follow the instructions. 😉

Good evening
My box was updated today. It worked with a few obstacles. But what no longer works are the icons for Netflix, Sky and Co - all icons are now just one color. It is impossible to recognize which buttons are only for Netflix, Sky and Co. Only the blue TV icons (series, films, etc.) can just about be seen in pastel colors with white. Is this a bug or problem with the combination of my Samsung TV?

Since the update today, neither Netflix nor YouTube are running. The tiles or app logos on the home page of my box are no longer recognizable and therefore no longer usable. The whole box is currently only running in slow motion and is really unbearably jerky.

Thanks for this update so far.

After an update, even if the box has restarted, the box may have to be completely restarted again. It’s best to disconnect the TV-Box from the power again briefly (at least 30 seconds), then reconnect it and restart it, and then let the TV box start up completely at your leisure, and give yourself a little time if a picture of a TV channel appears . These are my experiences when app icons are not allowed or the apps cannot be started.

We started the update and now this blue circle on black screen has been spinning for 30 minutes.

What is the intended duration of this update?

What should we do if there is no progress, just turn it off and turn it back on?

Thanks

My installation hung up several times, the hotline had to do a complete restart, then it worked… Recommendation for everyone, it doesn’t work straight away, ask the hotline directly for a call back and request support… everything else is a waste of time.

…I think that’s the case for many people - except for those who make money with Google. What I think is a shame, so much is always saved which is not really good for the search…

I also think this is a mistake on Swisscom’s part. Swisscom should be so strong in Switzerland so that it doesn’t have to expose itself to such constraints? The customers pay for the business, right?

@Plickaunne44

No, that’s not true!!! Because it is a larger update, the user may need to take a few steps. Otherwise updates always happen automatically in the background, usually in the middle of the night. 99% of customers have probably never seen this, let alone noticed it. The only exception… If a router or TV box has not been switched on for a long time or is running very old software, the update will be installed immediately.

Such updates are important because they not only provide new functions but also improve security, among other things. I would like to emphasize once again that a Google account is not required. This is only needed if you want to download additional apps from the Play Store. I would also like to remind users who suffer from Google paranoia that all TV boxes have always run on Android (Google)!!! The question arose here as to how you can delete Android, even though the boxes have been in operation for years!
