It’s best to leave the installation as it is now and wait for the result, because changing the socket shouldn’t have that much of an impact if it’s connected correctly.

Ok, then the cable will also be 40 years old. So no U72, but old “bell wire”. Unsuitable for today’s sophisticated g.fast installations if you want to get the last bit of speed out of it.

What was ok for ADSL with 20 MBit 10 years ago is no longer necessarily suitable for g.fast with 500 or more MBit/s today.

sounds like G51 1×2× 0.8 or 0.6 cable. Should be twisted…
