GT7 - Swisscom lays a rotten egg!

  • Hello

    As you can see here in this video, I have problems with Gran Turismo 7 in multiplayer or sports mode.

    I just start alone and all the other cars just stay at the start for the whole race. I drive through all the cars lap by lap. However, the opponents are still driving virtually in the background and at the end of the race I am placed somewhere in the field, depending on my race time.

    Thought on this..

    It all started in GT Sport, the predecessor of GT7. Exactly the same crap. And it’s definitely due to some Swisscom settings. I already had the problem at my old address in Wasen i.E. I wasn’t able to run a single race normally against other players. Then we switched to Quickline and suddenly normal online racing was possible.

    I have now moved and had to switch to Swisscom again because Quickline is not available at my location. And guess what my problem is now! Exactly! Once again I cannot complete any online races in GT Sport or GT7 with a Swisscom connection.

    This can’t possibly be a coincidence.

    That’s what my PS5 and GT 7 say..

    Internet test from GT7 says 12 milliseconds ping, very good connection.

    The PS5 says 70 - 108 Mbit DL and up to 30 Mbit UL

    NAT type 2

    LAN or WiFi hardly produces any different results

    So what’s the problem?! I haven’t changed or changed anything on the PS5, my router (Internet Box 3) or the Swisscom app.

    So there has to be a solution. Something is blocking or creating a bottleneck. Who can help me with this? I’m at a loss and don’t know about ports or other settings.

    Thanks for your help!

    • You can deactivate the bonding with the 5G booster in the Internet-Büx settings on your PS5. This is most likely to bite.

    @Fondue_Warfare

    Did the error happen via LAN or WLAN?

    Even if the measurement doesn’t show a big difference between LAN and WLAN, the stability via WLAN is significantly worse, i.e. there can be short interruptions from time to time and if they are at the wrong moment I could imagine that it would be an undefined one Situation arises.

    > As a first step, you should consistently connect the PS5 directly to the router via Gigabit Ethernet cable and see whether the error ever occurs again.

    Is the PS5 up to date with the latest firmware/software version?

    Please post the following data here so that I can roughly assess whether the internet connection is OK. is:

    Checker data:

    www.swisscom.ch/checker

    Verbindungsdaten of the router:

    To do this, you have to click on the green dot to the left of “Internet connection” in the router’s login mask and upload a screenshot of the values here.

    Remark:

    I don’t think it’s a general Swisscom problem. Because with over 1 million households with Internet boxes from Swisscom, there are certainly many other people who play this game. If it were a general problem, you would read more about it here in the forum.

      Hello

      Thanks for your answer.

      The error occurs with a LAN or WiFi connection. Unfortunately nothing is happening.

      Unfortunately, I don’t know what you mean exactly by the “mask”. But I took two screenshots. Please explain exactly where I have to take the screenshots for you, layman’s edition. 🙂

      It’s strange that the same error occurs at two completely different locations, but not with Quickline. Is it because of the PS5? But only use it with an Ethernet cable. Do I have to set something special?

      I’m so at a loss. I watch YouTube, Netflix and Co in 4K, and I also watch Swisscom TV in top quality. I also play 5 other games online without any problems. Only GT7 works in the Swisscom network.

      Of course GT7 support doesn’t answer.

        Fondue_Warfare simply remove the network plug to the booster if you have connected the booster via Ethernet or turn off the booster (unplug the power supply), (but not for too long (several days)) otherwise it may happen your space on the radio cell is allocated elsewhere.

        Of course that’s not a solution for me. This is completely from the Stone Age. But I’ll test it to see if it’s the booster.

        But that’s not a satisfactory solution, constantly plugging and unplugging.

        I’ll be in touch with an update.

        @Tux0ne

        Still hoping for your answer.

        Activate the Expert Mode tab in the Internet Büxe. (….haha…sorry)

        And then you should look for the PS5 in the device list and have the option to deactivate the bonding. So you can at least specifically exclude devices from bonding.
        Kind of like that, if I remember correctly. Although right in the head would be an exaggeration. I’ve never seen or done that myself in my life 😝 And I don’t think I’m missing anything. Check that out. I don’t want to go into too much detail about the technology. But TCP and UDP take different approaches to bonding and double NAT is certainly included. So ideal for gaming #not

        And if that doesn’t help, you can activate the bonding again for the PS5.

        @Tux0ne

        You were absolutely right. The booster is the problem, and in this case it was in the old apartment.

        I tested it with both methods. Switch off the booster or deactivate it in the settings of the Internet box on the PS5.

        So I can race online again in GT7. The problem is that in this case the booster is not available for all other games, as the constant switching on and off is extremely annoying.

        In order for me to get the 100 Mbit that I pay for, I need the booster. Without it I only have 30 Mbit. This makes online gaming no fun. Updates take hours instead of just minutes. It’s a shame that Swissom made me believe that there would soon be much faster internet at my location. Sounded plausible since the entire street in front of the house was torn up. But nothing new/modern was published.

        I’ll probably inquire about suppliers of this analogue box.

        In my old apartment I only had 12 Mbit without a booster, and with Quickline I had 300 Mbit via the analog socket.

        There are simply too many stumbling blocks at the moment. Do this so that it works, but then unfortunately it doesn’t work anymore unless you keep changing something and then changing it again so that this and that works better again.

        Stone Age!

        @Fondue_Warfare

        The booster cannot (yet) handle UDP and multicast. That might be causing the problem for you with the GT7. However, a corresponding adjustment to the booster is planned for 2023. Your GT7 may then also work with the booster activated.

        @Fondue_Warfare what you refer to as an analog socket is a digital cable connection (analog cable connections have not been around for years).

        Cable providers are: UPC/Sunrise, Broadband.ch or other local cable providers.

        Swisscom won’t let you out of the contract that quickly, after 24 months at the latest.

        The 14 day right of termination counts from the moment the contract is signed.

        I would get out of there quickly, as false information was provided, which then led to the conclusion of the contract. But I don’t have to go through the hassle because all alternatives are via Swisscom.

        400 meters from the main road, in the middle of a lively residential area - and only 30 Mbit. Times 58 if the booster has reception.

        Frustrating, something like this at the end of 2022. It’s a shame.

        @hed

        Is there an exact time period known in which the booster will be updated?

        I’ll probably have to make arrangements to always deactivate the booster for the PS5 when I want to play GT7 online.
