@Ludov

It is indicated "from the beginning of March 2020 gradually! You can see on the map an example in Basel of already 1 GB.

This does not mean that you have acquired an Internet Box 3 where Swisscom will install fiber for you more quickly, it is only the condition of this new box to receive the 1 GB when it becomes available at your home and with the adequate subscription.

The instructions are indicated on this same page under Frequently asked questions!

Hi,

Well personally that’s not how I interpret the November press release.

And we are not talking about 1Gb which has actually already been available for a long time via FTTH in large cities, but about 10 Gb.

Let’s wait for an admin’s response and we’ll see….

You should not believe that you will have 10 GB at home, it will initially be reserved for large companies! If you have 500 MB it’s more than enough for a household! You can always request them via contact form.

What is it crying? Me in Cologny, supposedly the wealthiest commune in Geneva, I have to settle for 100 mb / 32 mb! While supposedly my town is equipped with fiber… Except my neighborhood…

Good evening everyone,

For your information Monday 6.4.2020 fiber at 10 Gbit/s

A simple request by email, I will send you more information upon receipt and activation of the equipment.

May I ask what email address you contacted them to make the request?

Thank you so much!

In the customer area after login:

- at the top right there is contact, next to the choice of language

- then choose: Advice and orders

- Follow the procedure

You must first make a request to Swisscom to switch to the new technology.

Receipt of material

Then on the day of commissioning, change the equipment as indicated by an Internet user.

Hello everyone,

Small precision to go to the speed of 10 gbit/s you need:

Conditions to be met:

  • Have an FTTH connection

  • Have an Internet subscription L

  • The Swisscom Internet-Box3

  • Without price increase

  • Request it from Swisscom

I just got a call back from the hotline, who told me that apparently the technology is not available at my address…

I’m a little surprised, already having fiber at 1 Gbit/s…

I am not a Swisscom technician, but I have heard that the fiber exchange must be equipped for the new technology at 10 gbit/s and not all exchanges are. In the article published in November 2019, it was mentioned new technology gradually deployed from March 2020.

I suppose that in teleworking mode due to the coronavirus the deployment schedule was delayed.

I’m sorry for you.

For my information, it’s in the town of Yverdon-les-Bains. The municipality has put its hand into its wallet for a large FTTH fiber contract with Swisscom for a total of 25 million.

Hello,

I just made the request as indicated by @Tony77, but I was given a very basic answer that there was no 10 Gb subscription!

Apparently not everyone has the same information…..

Yes strange, here is their answer just now:

"Hello, thank you for your request. For the moment our maximum speed is 1 Gbit/s.

There may be an improvement this year but no more information. I’m sorry."

"It was planned for the beginning of the year, but we did not foresee the current events which used our strength on other points.

Everything is already in preparation with the new router and fiber installations, however for the moment the maximum subscription remains 1 Gbit/s."

Thank you for your answers… It doesn’t seem ready for everyone yet…

I hope that we will have communication from Swisscom when we can reiterate the request.

Isn’t it better to stay on FTTH technology with 1GB guaranteed rather than switching to GPON where the speed will be shared by several neighbors?

Show original language (French)

As far as I am concerned, for the town of Yverdon-les-Bains it is FTTH Fiber.

So it will be FTTH XGS-PON allows speeds of up to 10Gb/s on fiber optic connections.

Salt, which uses Swisscom FTTH fiber, already offers it in the town of Yverdon-les-Bains

See the link below which describes this new technology already in force in Yverdon-les-Bains.
