So…resetting the Internet box didn’t help either.

There’s something I didn’t mention because I didn’t think it was relevant, but maybe that’s the reason. There is a switch (Netgear pro Save GS108E) between the router and the four devices. Could it be that the switch has a problem, broken or something?

@steff

That can certainly be the case.

To test it, simply connect a device directly to the Internet box and you will see it immediately.

@Werner

Yes, it really is defective. I connected two of the devices directly to the router and it works.

I didn’t even have the switch on the bill.

A defect is defective, it can’t be repaired, can it?

@steff

I don’t know your specific switch, but if it’s not a SW problem with the switch that can be solved by updating or reinstalling the firmware, then there’s certainly nothing to repair.

They can - theoretically…

With a new price of just under 50 francs and a technician’s hourly rate of e.g. 100 francs, the new price is already through after 30 minutes and without any replacement part costs…

In short: Rep. is not worth it (unfortunately)

….keep on rockin' 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I just looked up how much the part costs. For this price it’s probably not worth buying anything other than a new one.

Does it make sense to buy the same switch again (Netgear GS108E) or perhaps something different for the future? The size is ideal for this one.

Or the exchange under warranty… like @kaetho said: Netgear ProSafe switches usually have endless warranty periods.

I’ll see how I do it with the switch.

So guys, thank you all. Once again it has shown that I can learn a lot here and that I get a lot of help. 👍

… my sarcasm apparently wasn’t understood 😉 The Netgear switch seems to be dead. So he’s no longer alive: the guarantee has expired because “lifetime” only applies as long as he lives. But as long as he’s alive, you don’t need a guarantee…

OK, it’s late and I’d better go to sleep…

The switch is defective because two devices that are connected directly to the Internet Box work like this? Exciting.
A switch is defective if all LEDs no longer light up. Then it may be that the switch on the cable from the power supply to this switch is on. Or the power supply is broken.
If only the port from the switch to the Internet Box doesn’t light up, the cable could also be faulty.

For me the switch wasn’t an issue because the lights all lit up. I also know that a patch cable can be defective. But that wasn’t the case either.

That’s why the test with the direct Anschluss to the IB (by the way, I tested all 4 devices 😉)

Whether the switch is defective or not, for me as a layman it no longer works properly.

I’ll try a reboot this evening as suggested by POGO 1104. I didn’t even know you could do something like that with a switch.

Brief information about the current state of affairs.

Short and sweet: the DHCP problems are solved. I unplugged the switch briefly and then it worked again. Thanks to Tux0ne for his persistence.

I never really considered that it could be the switch at all. Lights etc. were all on.

I also unplugged everything – except the switch. Tssss…actually these are the first things I do before I turn everything upside down - just not this time. Yep, now it’s working again.
