I have written to Swisscom about this. Here is their response. It’s really nonsense, I’m very angry :

Madam,

Your message has reached us and we thank you.

While the old interface was gray/white in color, the new one comes in a dark/black design. A change to the old, clearer version or a return to the old version is unfortunately not possible.

Below you will find some arguments/information regarding this change:

● Customer surveys and usage analyzes have shown that the dark UI is more successful with customers and readability is rated higher.

● Offering our TV platform on all equipment used in two different designs is no longer possible for economic reasons.

● The dark user interface helped address many reviews from our customers who complained that a light background in a dark living room or bedroom was very unpleasant due to the brightness.

At the time, I was a beta tester and I was even invited to the headquarters in Bern… but since then no one has asked for my opinion… and this update is catastrophic and I even ask if before ’send this update for 2 francs they checked the bugs… the only positive point… is that my second Swisscom TV has not yet been updated but I’m getting ready to put my glasses back on!! 😂

Jean-Pierre, Look at my comment from 3 or 4 hours ago (this display is stupid… it would be simpler if we had the exact time straight away without waiting for the next day…)… . I tried to explain how you can see the credits… I have never seen such stupidity….

@Anastasie

You are truly the best with a capital M like Migros.

Sorry, but in the face of this disaster all that remains is humor as long as we can keep it.

Despite everything, I’m happy to still have my HD-boxes.

What I am sure of is that the years are still not shown in the records!

If there was only that… Settings have disappeared (for example display of recordings and programming without thumbnails which in the majority of cases do not reflect the subject), the credits are stupid (we don’t does not need the photo of the actors, their role is more useful and so on!

Sorry, I’m repeating myself, but since this morning I haven’t lost my temper.

Good morning,

This dark design is aggressive for many people. Impose it for everyone

world is something unworthy of Swisscom. Are you saying that it is for cost reasons that you do not offer light and dark mode? I don’t believe it.

As usual, you don’t listen enough to your customers.
Additionally, since I got your last version 4 days ago, I need 10 seconds for my recordings to load and on some I get the message: Your selection cannot be read for moment. so I can’t see them!

This is a very sad update. And honestly, I am thinking of canceling my landline, mobile, internet and box subscriptions with Salt. At least they make great offers that are cheaper than Swisscom. Offering high prices and having these problems, no thanks Swisscom!

It’s me again: I realize that with the background of the image illustrated it is often difficult to decipher either the title or, more seriously, the start time of the broadcast!

Do you want proof: look in the program guide: RTS One March 27, 2020 at 5:55 p.m. what we can see for “Top Models”! An illustration is better than long sentences.

This is totally unacceptable.

P.S. One of the rare “advantages” of the Coronavirus lockdown: we have time to explore the unfathomable mysteries of the new visuals and functions that Swisscom has concocted for us with OS4!

More seriously, I wish all members of the Community and their loved ones a good

health!😄

Hello,

To give feedback regarding this example.

If I look at this info, whether it’s the TV Guide summary or the episode details.

Well, I can see all the information perfectly in both places.

This is my personal feedback 🙂

We don’t all have the same eyes, I understand that and in no way question the discomfort perceived by others 😉

I am 3.5m from my 126cm screen

There are surely also adjustments to the display/image parameters of the screen which also play a role 🙂

Like brightness, sharpness, type of colors, etc… I’m not going to make a complete list 😉

Maybe a lead? Like many others surely…

Courage to those who have problems with OS4 🙂

Greetings

Marco

I have always been very admiring of the avant-garde and the quality of the services and tools offered by Swisscom but unfortunately I must also be critical of this new interface…

Especially when such arguments are put forward:

  • Offering our TV platform on all equipment used in two different designs is no longer possible for economic reasons.

We’re not talking about redoing a completely different design here, but simply configuring a few colors! This actually comes down more to the notion of “theme” than “design”.

This kind of argument could convince newbies but as a developer myself I find it shameful to claim that such an option would be expensive when it would only take a few days of development. There is also no need to recall the cost of Swisscom customer services…

As for the arguments according to which black would appeal to the greatest number of people, it should also be noted that recommendations and standards already exist (see [WCAG 1.4.3](https://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20 /visual-audio-contrast-contrast.html), WCAG 1.4.11) and that it is not a question of “pleasing” but of “ensuring” accessibility to as many people as possible. The choice therefore does not come down to choosing between black or white, but on the contrary to ensuring a minimum contrast. For my part, I have light eyes, sensitive to light and, like people with dyslexia, it is more difficult for me to decode light text on a dark background than the reverse.

In summary, being able to choose between a light or dark theme should be a mandatory feature and not a nice to have.
