I’m glad it wasn’t just me who noticed this. Since the streaming offer is not provided by Swisscom itself, but by a third party, I could imagine that this third party made a change here without informing.

In general, it seems to me that the quality is generally decreasing.

For example, more and more channels are showing series information instead of episode information. So instead of showing what the episode is about, it shows what the entire series is about.

It also happens that descriptions - be it a series or a film - are displayed in a foreign language, or even a completely different one, about a different film.

That was already the case with Sunrise. That’s one of the reasons why I’m at Swisscom TV. If the quality of Swisscom TV matches that of Sunrise TV, there will no longer be any reason to use Swisscom’s overpriced service.

Recently, the season and episode are no longer displayed in the guide for series. At the moment the season is suddenly gone in the recordings and only the episode is visible. It would be nice if this error could be reversed. It would also be nice if mini series could be recorded automatically.

Hello

I don’t understand why this discussion is marked as solved. In any case, the season information is still missing for me.

I also don’t hope that the new TV box and OS4 will neglect the current OS3.2. In any case, I won’t be able to switch to the new box because my TV isn’t UHD capable.

So Swisscom, please don’t screw over a long-standing and loyal customer (I’ve been a Swisscom customer since I started paying my own bills, it was called something different back then, it was a very long time ago).

Thanks

There is no dependency between box and TV.

Every TV-Box can operate every TV and every TV can be operated by every box.

Regardless of the TV set, you would be well served with the UHD box now and for the next 2-3 years: It can already do everything you need for TV use and is simply much faster in all actions than the HD -Box, which in the meantime is already effectively “end of life” in terms of hardware and operating system and is only living out a pittance.

The fact that waiting and hoping has already been marked as a solution in this thread is of course a little unfortunate, but in this case it certainly doesn’t mean that the error is no longer being looked for.

Hobby-Nerd ohne wirtschaftliche Abhängigkeiten zur Swisscom

Hello @Werner

How am I supposed to understand this information on the “My devices - TV boxes and televisions” page, where it is recommended to switch to the latest Swisscom TV-Box generation:

“Receiving UHD requires an internet speed of at least 40 Mbits/s and a UHD TV”

Sorry, off topic

@waran

Well, that’s not a very good way to put it, because you don’t need a TV to receive UHD, a UHD box or the new Swisscom Box is enough.

The UHD box or I can also recommend the new Swisscom Box in connection with an old HD TV.

In my opinion the problem is still not solved. It certainly doesn’t have anything to do with the old box. The data provider who supplies the content simply removed the information from the description. Just like there are series where the content of the episode is no longer available. I had made a ticket and they had supposedly called me and asked for a call back. I did that and they promised me on November 12, 2019 that they would call me the same day. I’m still waiting for a call back today and when I call, no one knows the error ID in the ticket. Good customer service clearly works differently. And so I just keep waiting (also for the callback for a ticket from September 30th, 2019)………

I have also noticed that the season/episode information is missing for several series and channels. This is essential for series junkies. How else can you use the TV Box to control which season should be recorded and which should not be recorded and which can be deleted or can no longer be recorded? Here, Swisscom must immediately provide this information again and, if necessary, intervene with the individual broadcasters if it no longer receives the information. Or should the streaming services be sponsored here in a hidden way so that you can take out a subscription by degrading the service?

I very much doubt that the error lies in the lack of information from the broadcasters. In any case, the season information is available on TV Air. Shouldn’t these also be missing there if the broadcasters no longer provide them?

This is actually interesting. Maybe it is actually the case that the latest software for TV-Box no longer reads the data from a stream correctly.

Every file has information, so-called meta tags, in which the type of file, size, beginning of the file, end of the file, etc. are specified. For the series episodes there is also a season and episode number, which the software no longer reads out.

The issue with the season/episode info still doesn’t seem to be resolved. Is there any information about this? I would find it extremely unfortunate if this wasn’t fixed. This information is essential for series.

Hello everyone,

We have received feedback from the responsible people that the issue is currently being investigated.

If you have specific series (including channels and any other information), please feel free to report them here.

Unfortunately, nothing can be said at the moment about when the problem will be fixed.

Hello everyone. Here is a photo of the new Swisscom Box with Entertainment OS 4.0. Here you can clearly see that the series and season information is still visible, in contrast to the boxes with Entertainment OS 3.2.

I therefore suspect that the error is related to the launch of the new box and the new OS for it. The series/season information may have previously been included at the beginning of each content description and was edited as separate meta information for OS 4.0 and removed from the content description. But this information is now missing in OS 3.2. But that’s a purely speculative guess on my part. Maybe someone from Swisscom can provide some insight into this?

The assumption about the different entertainment versions of the TV box could very well be correct. You can see this quite well in the example of the recording on FOX War of the Worlds episode called DNA. There is no more season/episode information on my TV box and the season/episode information is listed again on the probably new Entertainment Version.

Swisscom would do well to replace the old and now faulty Entertainment Version immediately via update with the new Entertainment Version and not just from January 2020. But they probably want to consciously wait for the Christmas business here to be able to sell as many new TV boxes as possible.
