Synchronization speed

Hello everyone

Somehow I can’t figure out the following. Speed test with 140mb down and approx. 40mb up. There’s nothing to complain about. I have M subscription.

My router contains the following information:

Synchronization speed Upstream46848 kbit/sDownstream222719 kbit/s

Signal-to-noise ratioUpstream6.1 dBDownstream6.3 dB

Is this the speed (downstream) that I should theoretically have available? If so, why are “only” the 140mb available? Should I call customer service once?

Thanks for your help.

yes, that’s how it was measured. Swisscom Hotline only responds to what is written in the number checker. But that doesn’t work as it should.

So with this information in the Internet box you should get around 200 Mbit/s with the “M” subscription.

What is displayed in the Internet box menu during the speed test?

Unfortunately, the availability checker is currently out of service due to the major disruption!

N.B. Which internet box do you have exactly?

Hi,

The values in the router show the synchronization values with which the router still connects stably with Swisscom. These are gross values; experience shows that due to the overhead in data transmission, the amount you should achieve with a speed test is around 10% less.

I would now assume that you should actually be able to use the 200mbit/s download speed according to your subscription. For example, is Swisscom TV or another stream that requires data running during the speed test?

And what do the FEC and CRC errors show you for values in the router menu (switch to expert mode)?

And when the number checker leaves again, what does it indicate as the planned value?

Hello again

I have internet box 2.

There were no streams or downloads running in parallel. Now I looked again and reached between 180mb and 190mb, which is what the number checker actually shows. Why all of a sudden?

It’s starting to become suspicious to me that when I discuss things like this with SC customer service and then I don’t get any real help. Line test, router test, etc., the standard procedure which was confirmed to me by a Swisscom employee. The feedback was that you just have to do this with the customers.

The funny thing about the whole thing is that shortly afterwards all the problems disappeared and what was previously a problem works. Swisscom’s Mainzelmännchen are probably secretly at work in the background. I could tell you about at least 4 problems that went away after one or more calls to the hotline. Have any of you ever experienced this?

Well, if it’s that easy then I praise the Mainzelmännchen of the SC. This means that a company does not have to make concessions because a line, router or whatever has not yet been optimized. In the end it doesn’t matter to me, it works thanks to the little men.

Thanks to Thomas for the feedback.

Kind regards

Eric

    @Maddy68

Is the Anschluss new or has it been in operation with this profile for a long time?

After switching on/switching, it can take up to 2 weeks until the whole thing has stabilized at the maximum possible speed.
